Suggestion: Drawing back the bow should have a timer on when the bow will automatically fire (similar to magic weapons).
I feel that a lot of weapon damage ratios are really not in a terrible place (as long as they work as intended). A problem I have when fighting bow users that I don’t have with magic users is that I can’t properly time my dodges to their attacks since they can draw a bow back and hold it indefinitely. I feel casting animations that telegraph the attacker’s intentions, even if only slightly, are a necessity in a balanced pvp environment. In its current state, a bow user can draw back their bow and simply wait for the player to use their dodges so they can have an easy shot.
I see a lot of complaints claiming that the bow damage is much to high, and that may be true, but I think the real problem is that there is not much of a counter to the bow as a melee player and this solution may address the root cause.
I am honestly not holding my breath that AGS is going to get any balancing correct. They have listened to zero feedback from the majority of players all throughout the alpha, beta’s, and now lol.
They seem to do the complete opposite of what a lot of people discuss.
Bow needs actual fixing to quite a few issues it as. They make it perform worse on ptr as well as nerf it.
They overnerf FS and IG.
They buff the two weapons people complain about the most GA and WH.
They honestly nerfed LS a bit to much as well.
Nop to all you said. It would be unplayable if there was a set timer to a shot. Let alone the massive skill ceiling in order to land the shots. I think all this is coming from dying to a good bow player and it doesn’t make sense otherwise.
idk whats going on on your server but 90% of people using bow cant land shots do to how busted the bow is and as for damage the mages are hitting way harder then the bow. bow is only doing good damage under the circumstance that you waste a dodge land a head shot and haven’t hit anything at all in 10 full seconds even with 350 dex on full heavy charge shot with all my perks proced i hit a guy for 7.7k sure that seems like alot but this guy was in low GS light armor mean while even in medium 580+ gs armor with 11k health mages were killing me with 4 to 5 basic attacks for FS and IG was hitting less damage but able to stun lock me where i couldnt move the entire time from 11k health to 0. the bow also has to lead targets by like 5 feet even at 10m range and the hit box is less the half the size of magic attacks. I’ve watched player not move at 10m walk 2 steps to the left/right not dodge after me arrow has been released and the arrow misses. and to top it off if the dodge in medium if you shoot them the second the animation ends they are still in the IE frame so you do no damage. my last opr i had a GA follow me not even trying to really catch me ( never used charge ability ) i let him get to 7 m distance of me and then shot my arrow at him he dodged after the arrow was released and avoided it at only 6m away, arrows are traveling way too slow in this game feels like shooting a Childs training bow at a beginners archery class. theres almost nobody using bow on my server for anything other then pve at this point cause everything out classes it. and its so easy to just dodge their arrows even as a light armor player with only 8k health now ive never died to some one else using a bow literally just run side ways while they are aiming and 9time out of 10 they willl miss if they hit and it dose alot of damage drink a health pot by the time they hit you again the health pots off cool down again or you already killed them.
Ok, so GS does no mean shit as far as pvp goes. 100gs heavy will have the same dmg reduction as 60gs heavy. But, light armor gets hit hard by everything lol.
And yes FS and IG have a much easier time hitting bc of bigger hitbox’s.
Bow’s hitbox is about the size if a needle lmao. And It is laughably easy to avoid being hit by someone with a bow. I main bow/rapier. And while I know how far to lead at certain distances and such. It can still feel rng if i am going to hit someone at times. All it takes is the very very slightly movement for it to miss, which is something that can not be predicted.
I have had this happen to me. Have shot someone in med after they dodge, it hits them, shows i hit them, plays the sound i hit them, but does no d mg lmao.
And a few use bow on my server. But after the changes on ptr, a lot more people are rolling right to ga/wh lmao.
If a lot of these changes go through. There is going to be no mages, and no one playing bow. Will see musket because it is pretty good now on ptr, and rapier/spear are great.
I sometimes wonder if AGS wants to run this game into the ground lmao.
gotta say i feel better after seeing even shroud misses most his arrows and only uses the bow for DOT abilities and running away. hes had some of the best aim in the business and that all he dose with bow now basically and switches to musket when his dots are on cd. which thats great if you a respected streamer and gonna have people guard you with their life in pvp just for a chance to be on stream but for most of us bow musket wouldnt even work GA users know they can chase us basically forever and even in heavy armor and just drink potions till they catch us and 2 shot us wit a GA.
just saying if one of the most watched streamers with some of the best aim wont even use basics and heavy attacks on bow and is only using it for movement and aoe dots probably worth looking into whats wrong with it.
I’m not a hug fan of shroud. But he does have godlike aiming skills lol. But from the few clips i have seen of him playing NW. I noticed he rarely every used bow light and heavy’s. But with that he runs, bow and musket a lot of times. It’s understandable to see him prefer to use musket lmbs. Much easier hit and be consistent with. Doesnt matter how much dmg bow light and heavy’s deal if they are going to be easy to miss or easy to avoid.
yep he only uses it for the aoe attacks cause it almost a guessing game langing bow shots beyond 10m that and the bow only fires like a split second faster then musket and musket gets a instant reload on dodge wich actually make musket faster then bow in the long run. sure it dose little less damage but when you can land every shot vs 1 outa 10 its a no brainer to use musket over bow
I’m not a fan of that. Would that also mean they’d have to do the same for muskets? Also, what stops them from holding right click, dropping before the arrow rapeseed and drawing again to throw you off?
Also, the dodge problem should only be an issue at medium range, they’re easy to dodge further than that, and they’ll struggle if you get on top of them.
Great axe has existed since release. Balance is hopeless, dev uses great axe and just wants to fucking 1v50. Dev switched to ice gaunt for 1 week and look what happened.
Btw thats the only thing that makes sense, a dev power tripping in game fantasy so leaving his exploits in, because its not balance, and the exploits were posted on the forums literally how to fix it line by line of code sometimes. So yeah this game will never have pvp balance, roll the meta or suck dick.
