as a hardcore bow user this really sucks. the pen arrow stagger into a poison shot was the only thing I could do most times to get an advantage over heavy armour user, the lack of a roll after shooting for a second is a huge handicap as well, However if you stop holding your right click you can get the roll right after if your timing is good. Overall though the bow feels like absolute garbage right now. Atleast let me roll after I shoot ffs
Not really mate, bow was fine how it was if not it needed buffs not nerfs, you just never used it clearly, if you did you would know it wasnt amazing. E.g Firestaff had bigger easiesr to hit projectiles, didnt need to hit headshots to do more damage, fired heavys very fast, could move while shooting very fast, can now animation cancel and we cant and also had faster projectiles. Ive used all classes in high level pvp and bow was definitely the most skillfull and wasnt op or bad by any means
They had to do this as it was much easier to make the bow as terrible as the Musket, so they didn’t have to fix the Musket.
The overwhelming amount of feedback that AGS received about this change in the forums, reddit, discord, everywhere, is truly incredible. Why do you waste your players’ time asking them to test changes on a PTR if you completely refuse to acknowledge the feedback that they give you after those tests.
With the goal to make the combat more fluid, you’ve successfully implemented the most unwelcomed, non-sensical, clunky change in the game so far. The bow feels awful to play, it legitimately feels like a far less reliable musket. The ability combo was the only thing differentiating the bow and making it interesting to play. It gave it a different playstyle than every other weapon. Now, it’s just a musket with no op hitscan. Another miserable failure from this failure of a company
Yes, because “bow is op” said no one ever. Bow, from what I could tell had always been a little underwhelming but it felt good. As far as the changes, I can’t comment on those yet because I haven’t tried the bow after the patch yet…
But you better bet I’ll be using them later to see how they feel. That way I can figure out for myself how it’s changed.

These changes have made an already inconsistent weapon even more unreliable. While the goal of these changes may have been to reduce the probability of a one-shot or two-shot kill, hitting those 8k crits on a consistent basis is difficult. Headshot damage should not have been removed from poison shot, rain or arrows or splinter shot given that animation cancelling auto attacks was fixed. Hopefully DPS and TTK telemetry with the patched bow will show that this weapon is severely underperforming compared to other ranged weapons.

I didn’t play with the bow, but saw huge amount bow-player and they really hurt alot, even without headshots bow was strong wep imo
That balance may be too much, idk to be honest, and in future devs decide buff bow again

Good to know there’s a topic on it, but the first comment in that thread was “is this a joke?” with nearly 8x the likes. I’ll admit my comment was an exaggeration but that was in order to use a fun saying. Of course someone had said that phrase before, evidence A: you.
When I was new to the game, and didn’t know what I was doing, I actually thought the bow was op. And probably complained about it on the forums. Until I got smart, I picked one up and learned how it worked (as I do with all weapons). Bows are not difficult to fight against. I was never worried when I saw a bow user once I understood how to combat them. In War, most people were asking for mages (until this recent update), and they’d always have to damage.
The musket and bow are the two least used weapons in the game. If the bow was actually op before… why weren’t more people using it?
Edit: I would say from my experience, the bow felt like it was in a good place pre-patch.
The post you linked is some guy crying about PvE damage. the way it is now bow literally has to wait 3 seconds between every heavy attack. your 6k claim becomes 2kdps, single target damage. It can only hit one target. Lets take a look at any other weapon that deals damage. Gaxe hitting for 2k? x 5 enemies? once a second? thats 10kdps… omg op for invasions obviously.
They tried to do a bandaid fix on the bows dupe shots, and it didn’t work. And it just broke the entire weapon.
That’s exactly what happened but they literally refuse to ever admit incompetence when its like all we see lol, and that’s why its going to ALWAYS suck to be a part of the forums staff, because your supervisors are selling you out and you gonna catch this fucking hate lol.

There are just 3 weapons to play in this game right now, Great axe, Hammer and Hatchet.
The rest just put in trash, they are no competitive
Why do we still link clips shooting ungeared players and call it a day. You have nice aim, but the math of the game is simple(exluding exploits and bugs, so not simple I guess but w/e) and no amount of getting good or building correct is going to change it lol.
Also opr still has up to an additional 1.4X multiplier after all damage calculations are done. Thats huge, granted it looks like you are not on the receiving end of any OPR buffs in these clips.
NOW. Once resilience is fixed, now you going to be missing a huge 24%+ damage reduction on the big bow shots. That will indeed hurt. Already hurts anyone refusing to wear the only perk that currently matters for pvp though (resilient). The amount of people I know that think they have good gear and then complain crits hurt when they don’t understand the damage reduction mechanics of this game is quite infuriating. Like are you using 600GS armor without resilient? Its trash tier and not for pvp then.
Alot of this is on the game for hidden mechanics but if you test things yourself (using your own brain so this is gonna not apply to 99% of the playerbase) you can see things like:
Using 520 GS faction gear is worse than 490 GS faction gear by about 4% damage reduction. Thats alot of %. Anyone using 520 is actively using worse gear because the number is higher and they don’t understand why. Hidden scaling is why.
Just hoping a community manager or dev can give a comment on if this is being looked into, if its an accidental side-effect that wasn’t supposed to happen from the double shot bug fix or if its a design choice and planned on being kept, if its intentional and not being reverted im taking a big break until another fun weapon comes out.
