Rapid Shot and Evasive Shot are so obvious, that should be easy to dodge.
You see them jump backwards you roll, you see them use rapid shot you roll right after 2nd shot it is not hard.

Rapid Shot gets us rooted during the animation and requires constant aiming - if you were to die while I’m standing still, absolutely vulnerable, it would be pity. Almost nobody uses it.
Evasive Shot is a crap and rarely works. It is an excuse, since there is more staggers indeed, though the only one I have used reliably until now is pen shot. ES is far too situational for my personal liking, maybe in 3v3, otherwise should be treated as mobility skill.
You can’t dodge them all and close the gap as a melee. They have three staggers. You’re out of stam then eat all of their basic attacks.
I dont know a single bow player that runs rapid, evasive, and pen as their tool kit. Most bow players never run rapid because it roots and its hard to aim. Evasive is only good up close because its clunky and you can easily dodge it. While bow players run it, its better in close range like arenas than it is in opr. Long to medium range its not a very good skill to use and again, easy to dodge.
You say the odds are 1 in 100 and I got you a 25-1 game on my first attempt:
Not gonna act like im good or anything but Bow Rapier is strong AF no doubt. My rapier hits like a truck and hitting poison + crit (keenly jagged on creeping recurve) has me tick them 250 per tick. Follow up attacks are then stronger due to Mark passive.
Some guy on my server named issy gets 20+ kills and under 5 deaths every game I’ve seen him in OPR.
Bow is sick but I have more fun on tank nowadays even if its not ideal.
My suggestion is to lower hitbox size, nothing else. Bow has a lot of tools, I think good players could still pop off. Then it wont feel like youre getting pelted by arrows nonstop as a melee.
So true I’m criting people up to 3k, with 360 dex and empowerment.
Sometimes i hit beneath 1k with heavy thankfully healers can undo this in a second.
What’s even better is jolty movement and players with high ping, thankfully all the one shot combos can kill me without too much effort on their part.
To be fair I can rattle off up to 4k with of DMG with pen shot, so at least they’re getting rid of the millisecond stun so I can no longer destroy any more players.
No idea who is still moaning about bow, most get hit for bugger all. Just like the good old days where GA no aiming spin to win was dominant. Aiming is for noobs.
i think the only thing that need to be nerfed is the new hitbox , lets be honest , dmg its OK if someone can aim but w this hitbox almost every arrow get the hit .
talking as a bow player since lv1
I only watched about 5 minutes of your video. I seen no 8k combos as you missed most if not all of them. I seen a lot of missed shots. I seen a lot of you tagging solos and then letting them run free in favor of finding someone else that was being multi targeted. Most of your shots were 2k damage with some 3ks when your buffs were stacked. You played fine but exaggerations as if shots are never missed and your hitting everyone for 8k damage etc when that’s not what happened at all. Its easy to get kills on people getting multi targeted and you hit the high damage killing blow.
I agree in terms of solution - reducing hitbox to be something between what we have now, and what it was prior to the patch.
In terms of gameplay, this is straight up boring though effective for someone who cares about the score and nothing else - which explains why so many people jumped the wagon. Standing around picking targets, then running away as soon as, generally speaking avoiding any sort of engagement for as long as possible. So happened I had OPR game which was exactly what you said before, meaning 80% of people played bow/musket. It was unbearable. Though this isn’t because of the weapon itself, but because of people who want to get some easy numbers with no skills whatsoever. On the other hand in my previous 3v3 that I played earlier on, I was wrecked by 3x GA\WH players who stun-chained me from the get-go - I didn’t get to do anything.
There is always going to be some toxic “game ruining” build that the sweats are going to jump over to, exploit it to the point where the game becomes unbearable for those seeking PvP thrill, and then go back to the forums complaining the game is broken, when in reality they break it themselves.
I will keep playing bow regardless. I did it from the beginning and so will continue to do so, because I like the gameplay of it. At this point AGS will do whatever they want, and some will keep on complaining with complete disregard to bow’s viability in any other mode outside OPR.
I did watch your video for about 5 min - as said, such gameplay is boring to me, effective in terms of numbers, but not consistent. And not sure why nobody targets you for so long?! I mean, “I die to bow,” but do nothing about the bow player standing on point in the corner, just spamming with no thread.
Youre right numbers were exaggerated a bit. chaining auto into pen or poison is closer to 4-5k total, which is still a nice burst especially since I apply 2 dots.
And yeah my point is I dont even play bow anymore. This is one of my only games after 200 hours tanking. Its easy to see how people get frustrated when you have 5-10 guys doing what I’m doing lol.
I dont think a lot has to change just reduce the hitbox size a hair.
Fair
Its kind of a rapier problem tbh. Rapier can pretty much prevent me from being in any sort of disadvantaged scenario. It beats melees and spear hard imo, gets me out of jail free of charge, then im back to bursting and applying 2 dots with the bow.
Ive faced a few people with refreshing move who get ripostes up so damn fast. I like my rogue/keenly emp tho as I hit people in that back really hard. Towards the end of the video I was getting 2.3k hits on my swipes. Refreshing evasion is what I use for my CDR.
Its a boring playstyle but effective as range in OPR. Most people who hunt me down will get dragged out and lose the 1v1. My rule is to never chase a rapier player.
Id only consider using spear in 3v3 when i need to lock down a healer.
I am sorry but this is simply not ever going to be true unless (and this is a big maybe) you are running light bruiser. Which in that case , losing survivability is the trade off. If bow is that much of an issue for you legit all you have to do is slot an emerald or two. I run 100 con light and it takes 4-5 direct hits from a bow to kill me
Didn’t read everything back to the first posts but…
What about a rework? The problem that bow has for now according to people is either it’s over damaging, either not enough to secure kills. The identity of the bow is just around damages and stat padding.
What about a meaningful gameplay, maybe based around roots, cc, slows and dots? With a pinch of escape? This way, bow could have a more constant dps, be less bursty (contenting people getting “one shot”), still have pressure and utility (contenting bow players) and be actually meaningful.
Roots or slow could apply few damages but kind of last for longer than other weapons. Same for dots. Dots could maybe combos between each other, therefore recommending skillful gameplay if you land your shots.
Would also make medium and heavy kind of usable.
I feel this is the way bow should head towards to be easier to balance and content either sides.
No bruiser is going to slot emeralds in war. Weapon balance should not be balanced at all by the existence of gems.
We use onyx.
I’m seeing rapier taking over as secondary weapon of choice for nearly all FS/LS across the board as well, with addition being some hatchet players taking it for shits and giggles. It had become deadly in 1v1 on top of it’s unmatched mobility potential, and that itself renders engagement to be in their favour, regardless of the 2nd weapon of choice.
Spear on the other hand is now a hot garbage. Whoever has grit on will sustain the stun chain, literally standing still with no effect, whereas the damage potential is simply not there. Since I’m running B/S I have experience some hard time in both OPR and 3v3 when up-close.
All in all the meta is going to change hopefully once the patch drops. Doubt ranged is moving out of OPR, but maybe the spam will ease, so much so as to being able to run for 100m straight without getting bullets/arrows from all directions.
Rapid shot is great for invasions … that’s about it.
GA killed OPR from the outset. People just got used to it.
The guy is a musket player that pops off 4k shots and complains about every weapon.
