Bow Meta in OPR right now so disgusting

im getting hit for 3-5k in med with 150 con. even with armor breaker and shockwave i don’t hit med for 4k with a heavy hammer.

My wife switched to bow when they nerfed healing, so I watch her from time to time and she gets 3K crits, and she is in heavy armor herself.

A basic attack crit can get you pretty close to 2K on Voidbent.

Various situational passives for the bow, and/or PVP perks from Jewelry, or hitting targets caught in an Ice Storm can get you over 3K. 5K is probably a stretch…I don’t know…a guy with 50 Con, Light Armor, and full Dex may be able to get 5K, not seen it myself.

But yes, I have seen my wife, as a Heavy Bow, hit for 3K.

Going light armor you can die from 3 arrows I literally get one shot sometimes

Yeah, OPR is unplayable as is. The skitzo hatchet build is the same problem the Blunderbuss was, nerfed Blunderbuss, so now they’re using the hatchet with Rogue/Vicious. The commonality is the SNS stuns and stamina burn being too powerful and uninterruptable. The bow changes are just an example of WAAAAY overtuning a weapon. There is basically zero downside to using a bow right now…extreme range…extreme damage…no risk. At least a GA user has to get in melee range and take some form of risk and melee lends itself to actually playing OPR. This bow meta is just hilarious, people shooting each other through doors and at range and no one pushing a point lol…

With the new pvp perks plus buffs I think is posible

I run emeralds in all my gear in OPR, and it helps a little.

Yeah, I changed out my Rubies for Emeralds. I run about 4 Emeralds, I think…plus I have Thrust protection on my Jewelry. Adjusted for the meta since the good old Blunderbus days, lol

Why not instead of nerfing damage they nerf OPR rewards for ranged players that if they do not step on point for a certain time frame they get no rewards force them to get into the thick of fights to play the objectives of OPR which is taking the points

Only have a corrupted bane 625 set for range but it still pumps dmg in pvp, having a lot of fun in bowpr lol

In a 500 dex light corrupted bane bow setup, dealing 4k-8k heavy attacks depending on opponents armor type and gs. I dont have a pvp set, but bow is still so insane for dmg

Can confirm, i have one shot a few people with bow, hitting close to 9k but im guessing my opponent was like 590-600 gs. I dont really even have a pvp set, just gear thats 625 for corrupted bane. Some perks are pvp oriented but still, even without that im hitting crazy hard. Jagged and poison arrow along with some crazy hard hits, if i was a bit better at aiming it would feel even more broken

I enjoy playing these guys, biggest problem I see is that when you catch you they just get get to 1% and then heal, killing them is not balanced at all.

I think heavy armor essentially being paper is the issue here. It needs at least twice as much more damage absorption. I dont care if tanky fortified builds would be super tanky, because those builds would have 50 or 5 weapon damage stats.

Every time I try on a medium or heavy set I feel like movement feels twice as slow as than in light armor. And there is no real benefit from more armor… im physical resistance heavy set with pristine diamonds in each slot and my armor feels like tissue paper. Great axe and bow still crits for 2500-3000. My setup usually has 15k hp when in medium. I feel like the pause after the hop in medium, or the pause in movement after the duck in heavy, make both armor sets categorically worse to use than light armor, and every time i try either out I have such a frustrating time that I switch back to light and things seem far better… mostly because of the mobility issue described above.

I do slightly more damage with 200 con and a bow than 5 con and a musket, like WTF.

I really missed the days where you kill anyone so hard without coordination of skills on a zone or group of enemy. Missed the shot calls on clumped groups. Now everyone so mobile and there is no real CC left in the game. and CC is not enough to punish light players but enough for heavys.

Wars also is not fun like before(when ga/wh was meta, when you need to coordinate gravity, oblivion, scream and stuns to burst clumps/point groups)

The game really needs a lot of balancing.

First day as a new Bow user last night. My bow was 610GS. My overall GS613 mainly because I wore my old full Voidbent set of armor, that’s what I have that isn’t mage based.

I run 200 Con, so keep that in mind. Basically 200 Con/300 Dex, all heavy armor, so not exactly built for maximum DPS.

I was shocked, a few observations;

  1. I suck, a lot to learn about positioning and using my skills without having to think about it.

  2. I still got at least 5 kills in every match. Still got at least 25 assists every time, at a minimum.

  3. I came damn close to hitting for 3K numerous times last night with crits. In fact, every crit was close to 3K. And that is with a bow with a Ruby in it, not Jasper or Emerald which I would prefer, but my bow doesn’t let me change gems. If I had Jasper, Emerald, or Malachite, I would be hitting even harder.

  4. I got an awesome snipe on Baroness. I was killed on my way, ran back as fast as I could, and arrived just in time for one shot, and I nailed it! Head shot crit! It was the highlight iof my evening.
    I almost got away, too…but not quite, they chased me all over and got me eventually.

  5. Even with my 600GS jewelry, and 610GS bow, I STILL hit harder, MUCH harder, than I ever did as mage. My basic attacks hit as hard as my Fireball did, even with Empowering Fireball.

My thoughts on the Bow are, it is actually in a pretty good place, I think. I don’t think it needs a nerf, I think that other weapons need to be buffed to bring them on par, weapons like Fire Staff, Void Gauntlet, Musket, all need to be buffed to Bow level.

I paired the bow with Spear…not really feeling the spear but it is effective. The Sweep skill came in handy not only for self defense, but I saved our healers a couple of times with it when an enemy player got on them. Spear does suck with targeting, though. Not like sword, or hammer, or great axe, all of which are MUCH easier to use than spear in regards to hit boxes. They sort of have an arc that the enemy doesn’t have to be standing diretly in front of you, you can still hit them. Not so with the spear. Can be a pain sometimes.

Anyway, there is one less mage, and one more Bow user. It won’t win me any OPR’s, but it is a LOT easier and much higher DPS than my mage ever was.

Bow meta it’s also cuz of rewards change. Everybody want the points for max PvP XP (2.000 when lose, 2.500 when win). Any range weapon its easy to reach the points.

Now majority go for the needed points for max rewards then dont give a fck about match final result, sometimes I see afk ppl in bases moving from time to time (macro-afk).

But IF rewards would be as on release then ppl would actually care about winning and work for it, not just pew pew from outside fort. But NOOO, why to play with ur eyes on map or trying defend/attack a fort … when u can simply pew pew for points then wait next match.

Now with risk to get banned again, sadly we have to many forest monkeys for dmg xD

They need to change the scoring system and make it based on capping points and overall score. Damage and healing should count but reduce it to like 40 or 50% efficiency. They also should look into getting points for damage blocked so tank won’t get screwed all the time.

If they make capping forts give double or triple points you should see improvements on how opr is played.

Bows are trash still. Everyone has either gemmed for them and/or the recent stealth nerf to dmg (in the last 2 small patches) they also broke the larger hit box as well.

The results of OPR are unchanged since launch.

Most healers wins.
Healers are still OP and survive 5v1 or more.
Most Greataxes / Warhammers win.

Side note: A couple blunderbuss users are doing WAAAY to much damage so I assume that’s an exploit and I report them immediately. Since it’s only 2 or 3 players consistently doing that much damage I assume it’s an exploit.

The discussion hasn’t changed. Everything is still broken and we’re no closer to balance than we were 8 months ago.
