Not sure if this helps, but spear rapier light does the trick for me, as well as bow spear, light. Give them a try (less ivnestment to switch, and still quite a lot of fun)
Spear: skewer, perforate, vault kick or sweep as per preference.

They sped up pillar of fire animation so they didnt have to dodge cancel out of it and you can dodge out of burnout untill the last few frames before you go. No idea why they have a problem with bow having animation canceling
Those of us that are bow mains from the start of the game till now will fight for the bow to be a good balanced weapon that feels how the bow should feel untill we cannot type no more, I see alot of the same people in bow threads, so we are here with you my guy till the last arrow.
well, Its everything that they did to it, We have gotten i think 5 nerfs in a row at this point but every single one has just made the bow clunkier other than the rain of arrows area nerf, i think that was justified. The bow hits very low on anything medium to heavy, wouldnt be so much of a problem if we had mobility and a faster fire rate. everyone who has complained about the bow’s “high damage” was a non bow player hit by a charged heavy hit, the bow should have high damage as your not hitting every hit, unless your literally cracked out of your mind but you cant balance a weapon based off the top %
Name is the same, havn’t gotten on much in the last three weeks, as the game is unplayable for me with lag and dsync. Fought in a couple lag wars and gave it up. Was wishing this patch was gunna do something but its still just as bad. Green Gang, usually trolling around with car ideas at duel gate.
Remember like the first patch they put out in Sept they ninja nerfed the velocity so you had to re learn the bow all over again? Ya know the patch that introduced all the engine problems the game has. Started the lag wars trend. Can we just go back to the game that was?

The changes that I remember are: nerf to the fast combo light/penshot, nerf to crit dmg (affected all weapons), jump-cancel (deserved, it allowed faster rate of fire and was ridiculous to look at), concussion (this was a fix not a nerf, I felt it ofc, but still…). Of these I mentioned, the first one is probably the one I felt the most, but the others really didn’t chage bow dramatically, and they didn’t made bow “trash” like someone claims. Remember the drama some people made for the jump? Calling bow “unplayable”? What changed really in the end? The mobility on bow is not a real issue to me, and after this last patch it’s even better. Light roll+hearthy+nimble+evade shot, that’s what I use, I can get out of almost anything (roots are obviously an issue), and I don’t even use rapier. Talking about damage, this is too subjective I think, because there’s gear involved. I’m 613, Lazarus bow (617), my damage is absolutely not low. They could probably rise a bit the damage on heavy, but on light and medium it’s fine. The only problem I have is with muskets players. If they got GOOD aim, there’s nothing you can do (unlsee ofc you get a couple lucky crits).
I get that for many players bow is probably a love/hate thing, after all it’s one of the hardest weapon to use, it’s a hit and/or miss. But for me, bow playstyle is just fun. I have other setups and I play them from time to time, but in the end nothing satisfies me like shooting a penshot through a group of people or getting that “lucky” killshot on someone.
The are only two things I would change on bow: splinter shot (awful, pointless ability) and heavy attacks (it takes too much time to charge it, absolutely not worth it).
Just my opinion of course.
Splinter shot has its uses, especially if you specifically mained its usage and If they just changed heavy attacks to a charge system such as no hold = 0% and full charged = 100% they did it so however long you held the arrow is how much of the damage towards the now heavy does.
A reason people say the bow is trash right now is becuase there is little risk reward its just risk at this point. There is a delay to the fast combo, first animation cancel taken out, now we have .33 second roots every time we fire which leaves us open to attacks (especially now with every single weapon other than us getting animation cancels for thier light attacks and what is going on with the light roll gliding). We found how to jump cancel because they tried to take skill expression out of the bow so we found another way, they keep taking skill expression out of the bow, from smooth to clunk.
I myself have a 625 Laz bow with a 623 GS so I Personally am seeing the high point of damage possible as i also run 490 dex(Glass cannon for life) and i still crit tanks for 600-1k and mediums for 1.3-2.5 and lights for (havent actually fought another light armor user in a while so idk off the top of my head, probably more near 3-4k) Damage should be high as it takes a decent amount of skill to hit more than 1 arrow in a row as 1 pot can heal more than one of our arrows.
One of our ultimate perk’s is borderline useless as whom is aiming at the legs. the 20% damage nerf(yes im calling it a nerf) would have been fine if we got something in return, such as fire rate making the skill expression still have the ability to be shown.
I do understand where you are coming from @Diego5 but for me the bow playstyle is not just for fun, it is fun of course, but it’s the labor of my love for the game.
(This last part is just my personal rant and not a rant towards the message i am replying to)
My biggest rant with the bow is the fact that they have taken the skill cap and ability to express skill with it down substantially, and that I do not think that the bow has any representation on the moderator or dev team so there is not much we can do about it but post here.
It is even worse. Actually we are even rooted when only aiming and not shooting.
Every time you aim your bow you are rooted in place, unable to do anything at all.
What I mean…you wrote the above. WHich is true. Only you do not even need to shoot for being rooted. Just rightclicking for aiming is enough to trigger the root.
After this patch bow actually got a new (old) animation cancel: you can now combo light attacks into a pen shot or poison shot, thanks to the new queue system. Clunky af, quite useless and not flexible at all, but is still something. Something that they are going to remove again because bow players cant have fun and everything they do that isn’t staying still and shooting, it’s an exploit.
Bow is not in a viable spot at high tier PVP or duels.
My 625 lazarus bow hits mid 700s on full resilient medium build with only a piece or two of physical aversion. They have 11.5k health.
If they have a fire staff on top of that they get a faster fire rate, larger hitbox, and dont get rooted for .33 after shots like me. Honestly a bow should lose most all duels in the current patch.
The only viability a bow has is poison + rain of arrows in group play.

The resilient stacks with physical aversion stacks is bonkers. Bow is not in a good spot as you suggest. It only punishes light armor players or under geared players.
