Huh?? You just lead your shot. It doesnât help that the arrow is flying anywhere else than the center of the reticle on the trajectories peak. Leading shots while your arrow still flying non-center of where you aim doesnât help. Sure, you can adjust and get used to it, but Iâd say itâs better when people learn how to lead their shots on distance while the arrows fly where you actually aim with your crosshair.
Accuracy perk only affects hipshots, I thought everyone knows that by now?
It appears that they reverted the reticle change to accommodate the blunderbuss need for up close combat and firing.
BEFORE the reticle change, bows/muskets were able to still shoot objects that were right on top of them (although, we had to fire to the left or bottom-left to make contact)
AFTER the reticle change, bows/muskets were UNABLE to shoot objects that were right on top of them. (Forums were blowing up about this, but a fix was never made)
As it stands NOW â bows/muskets/blunderbuss are again able to shoot targets that are right on top of them.
IF you guys continue to harp on this point, and they revert this change, we will be back to the degraded state we were once in.
This change is a BUFF. Please understand that and appreciate what we have right now. I donât want to lose it again.
Right, because thatâs where the arrow currently goes to instead of the center. If it went to the center (like intended) youâd lead with your crosshair slightly in front of the direction your target is moving to, instead of doing that with the imaginary center point??
Absolutely. But the point is you use that imaginary point on the left of the screen because the aiming point on the screen is technically a point in the background. You still with me?
The reason itâs to the left (or to the left and down) is because your player automatically accounts for distance and elevation (arcing shot)âalso the camera and the reticle are askew. If you are aiming at a point 50 meters a way the character is accounting for a different distance and elevation than if you are aiming at a player that crosses your crosshair at 10m. As the player crosses your crosshair itâs changing those calculations. Which is why when you are on a player standing still you can use the center of the crosshair. But if you are aiming at a player that is moving you use that imaginary left, or left and low location at range.
Again my more broad point is that this has literally been a thing since November. I played bow/spear exclusively from Nov-end of February and am now 3 or 4 weeks into playing a ton of GA/Hatchet. So unless something changed and revertâwhich is unlikely because I ran a dungeon in my bow/spear set 2 weeks ago and then my first tempest run two days ago. There was no secret nerf or change. The only thing that makes sense is if the OP is claiming a fix was made in that initial period and the change was reverted back in November or December and I just didnât notice it. The OPs language used in this thread suggests it was a âshadow changeâ in this updateâof which I have no evidence of. Including with hundreds of hours of play time.
I understand what youâre trying to say, my point is that the arrow should always go dead center and the only adjustment to lead your shots should be made by the player, while being guaranteed that the arrow always leaves in the same direction you aim at for max precision - so we donât get into this guessing game, as if bow isnât hard enough.
Donât get me wrong, I have 0 struggle with either just because Iâve been maining bow since launch. But in regards of OPs message: Iâm fairly certain that we went from âarrow goes slightly to the left of the reticleâ to âdead center like intendedâ to âbottom left of the reticleâ.
But if anyone has clear proof that it has always been the case, please enlighten us.
Itâs easy to get lost in all these (shadow) bow changes due to the absolute lack of communication around it.
I donât understand what people are talking about here, the thing is very clear, they also brought evidence, I have hundreds of clips where you can check the trajectories of the arrows, It is true that the arrow moves left or right depending on whether you are moving in any direction while shooting. In that we all agree that if you want the arrow to come out perpendicular to the player you can only do it while standing. But what is being said here is that the arrow does not even reach the center of the crosshairs, when that has ALWAYS been a fact⊠obviously if a player is 100 meters away and you aim with the center of the crosshairs, no youâre going to hit it, obviously, but the arrow will always pass through the center of the reticle in the highest position of the arrowâs trajectory⊠now that theyâve changed that without warning, itâs annoying, and even if they had warned, why do they have to change that? that they have to raise the difficulty of the bow more to turn it into a kind of RNG of blows? I donât get it⊠anyway⊠true spirit archers are going to keep hitting the faces of those âMeta playersâ who donât know any game mechanics. Thank goodness AGS doesnât know about some bow potentials which I hope they will NEVER find since I know I nerfed it instantly. Thank you AGS for that love towards the bow.
To be specific tightens the radius of physical ranged projectiles fly. The projectile always flyâs in a straight line from itâs creation point till it impacts a object or disappears at max range. There is no aim assist system in place like other fps that cause the projectile to curve.
The easiest way to explain this is that the projectile is created on a small sphere then flyâs straight to itâs destination base on where it is created on that sphere. This is most noticeable with blunder buss or if you try to fire a musket in an npc/player and it shoots off at a really odd angle not hitting the target.
Again with blunder buss as a example we know that scoping in with your still getting a spread on your shots that spread is just tighter then hip firing. Scoping + acurracy perk I tend to land my spreads on head shots more often at 12m.
I definitely noticed something different with bow, but it felt like an improvement: i no longer had to imagine the crosshair to be slightly to the left, now it actually hits right where the crosshair is. Have to test it further though
You can lead your shot, but something Iâve found over time and by asking, is people with low ping , less than 30, and high point, and 120 are very hard to hit.
Their movement is erratic, and leadung is too hard .
so like moving side to side changes where it looks like it launches from moving right makes it move to the left and moving tot he left makes the arrow launch move to the right and it feels super super wack and i personally dislike this feel, idk about making a difference for end target but i think it is trying to do what the blunderbuss does since we are in third person firing
brother, thatâs been the case since the day the game was released, nothing has changed in that. What has changed is the maximum height that the trajectory of an arrow reaches perpendicular to the ground, in addition to a shift to the left regardless of the playerâs movement, you can check it by standing anywhere and aiming at a target 20m away âŠwhen you check it out, compare it to pre-patch videos of the same situation. You see a clear difference.
can definitely say now arrows go straight trough the crosshair; havenât noticed any weird interaction by moving left and right; overall itâs an improvement, but i must relearn the crosshair positioning now
Yeah⊠bow community is for sure the most masochistic oneâŠ
Bow is in a very bad spot⊠small hit box, low damage, slow attacking speed⊠you still can do well on OPR, cuz you can be sneaky and hide behind other players, but as soon as 3v3 is up, bow is dead.
I really hope they change it by thanâŠ
