I do bow to people with a lot of experience in wars as I am on a low pop server and havent seen a single war in living memory. But werent muskets taken to wars in order to take out anyone in a siege or at least force them out and targetting healers to force them away from healing melee to themselves. Not trying to shoot a tank on a cap point receiving heals from 10 healers?
Pvp guilds don’t even bring musket players to wars.
Bow and spear users in my server are top killers and damage dealers. Not sure what you’re on about.
Genuine question, have you actually used them? Bow specifically, it is so clunky and takes 2 seconds per heavy shot, right now bow is the worst weapon in the game unless you’re somehow cracked enough to hit every single headshot, and then if you are it becomes mid tier, the DPS on it is so low down it’s not worth building unless you reallt want to use bow, fire staff does more per light and heavy attack alone than the bow does heavy light and abilities, right now the weapon is bad, not worth using, Amazon games did not go in the right direction with it, high damage per shot doesn’t automatically make it strong or good, it’s still shit

Yes and no, proper glass Cannon can kill everything that doesn’t have 200con + medium max/heavy meta in 1 burst.
In Alakapuri AP southeast, winning team is still consist of 10 GA con user + 5 meta healer + random since you can’t do anything to these type of formation unless you are IG toilet user

yeah its got nerfed because it was straight busted. musket bow is a nasty aoe damage dump.

I can’t speak for bow, but musket is fine minus a few obvious and overstated issues. With the right perks, stat allocation and rotation, you can reach out and touch just about anyone with complete impunity. Ok, maybe not full tanks, but you can definitely worry them to the point where they FO.
In wars, muskets should be shooting at cannons or counter sniping the guys shooting at yours. You will never be “omg look at the boards” level, but you add value if you play the weapon right.
Musket will always require more effort and skill, but it definitely has utility.
If you want to get your name in the paper, you should stick with the meta whathaveyou builds.
I think bow has some nice aoe burst on a long cd, can you tell me how musket has any aoe whatsoever? Not one single aoe afaik.

I wear light armor and use bow. And unless there are a couple people with muskets all targeting me I just kind of dodge a bit and drink a potion and keep on.
The only ranged I worry about are fire staff and ice gauntlet. If ice gets Close enough you lose. Fire staff you lose at all ranges.
I think you’re mistaking all the ranged meta shots for bullets or arrows but it’s actually mages that are dominating this ranged meta. Are your particle effects on?
Muskets are very good versus light armour users but are next to useless against anyone in heavy armour.
Unfortunately, that is the vast majority of players atm. Approximately 40/50 people in our war team are currently running heavy armour and that seems fairly consistent with the people we fight against also.
Heavy armour provides way too much mitigation and most people who are using heavy armour are also running a good amount of constitution.
Also after playing with the musket on PTR it seems that it has a reload speed increase but I couldn’t fully test it.

I have been running musket/firestaff with light armor in pvp primarily since i hit 60 and spent alot of gold trying to get it to a point where i would not drag down my team in OPR. And while its not the most powerful build out there, its actually alot of fun once you get your priorities straight.
I dont use the musket on heavies unless i just want to add the powderburn dot to help other dps kill the target, or there are no other better targets.
Snipe out archers, mages, other musket users or healers. Even if you dont kill them, smashing enough damage and a powder burn into them will make them have to reposition and burn their healing pot.
Heavy healers though, they are more or less a lost cause with the current patch.
You are most likely gonna be a straight up glass cannon to squeeze enough damage out of your musket to be efficient, so if anything gets close to you, you straight up bail and reposition.
If you happen to find yourself forced in to close quarters, lets say, you are trying to cap one of the bases in OPR and you need to stay on point, just pull out the firestaff instead. Most of the people in the cap zone are gonna be heavies, so trying to snipe out a heavy in that situation is just a detriment to your team.
In fact, dont get to hung up on the musket, there are plenty of situations where swapping out to the firestaff is better. Heck, maybe it would pair up well with a ice gauntlet? I just like the bail out option burn out gives you.
For me the musket is more about stacking empower buffs, and hitting my shots consistently, my third shot on a target is normally the hardest, so i dont recommend building the musket as a first hit big, one shot, big number, kind of weapon.
But thats just what works for me, someone smarter and more experienced has probably cooked up a better build than i ever could.
Use a honing stone, and get damage buff food if you are running OPR. You are gonna need the damage boost to get big numbers on lights and medium, and if the stars align you might smash some big numbers into a heavy as well.
BUT, this is all for PVP, the pve part of the musket is mediocre at best from my experience. The only place where i have found the musket to be somewhat efficient when it comes to pve is in invasions, sticky bomb for big groups, shooters stance to help take out the siege engines, dropping marksmen, and the suicide bombers. But even then, i mostly use the firestaff.
The thing i want changed the most for muskets are honestly the crosshair, and having shots that actually hit in the center of the crosshairs instead of slightly left of the center.
I hear they did something on PTR to make the reload time less torturous, so i am really looking forward to that.
Cant say anything about the bow, never gave it much of my time.

Some relevance but more for 1v1 I guess but musket in the PTR is being reported as being able to reload while moving.
