You have no business using that word to disparage anyone else. You can’t even comprehend the difference between fixing a thing that was unintended, and taking a thing and making it smaller.
I will try, once again, to illustrate the issue. Prior to the BUG FIX, bow shots were being calculated to receive a 20% BONUS to damage, regardless of where the target was hit. After the BUG FIX, they STILL receive a 20% BONUS to damage…but the shot has to land within the area designated as the target’s head. Bonus damage to head shot is how the ability was intended to function. It was never intended to be a flat 20% increase in damage, therefore the new calculation is NOT a reduction.
Imagine paying someone to build a bench that’s 8 feet long. You’re paying them for an 8-foot bench. Somehow, the party responsible for measuring the materials ACCIDENTALLY cuts everything to the size necessary to build a 10 foot long bench. Now, no one catches this error in measurement until after the bench is delivered and used. Once the bench maker realizes their error, they return and adjust the measurements so that you, the bench buyer, are now in possession of the thing you paid for and originally expected to receive.
Are you seriously going to stand by your claim that because a mistake was initially made, you should continue to benefit from it? You didn’t pay for a 10-foot bench. A 10-foot bench should never have been supplied. And you are not entitled to it just because a mistake was made somewhere along the line.
Bow is High skill Weapon but same like all other weapons you need a Secondary to Chase and finish low health enemy. Before Bow was insane in Dmg. 3-4K avg hits and no need to chase, 3 hit kill. now its more Balanced.
Played bow since closed beta.
I didn’t always take the concussion passive so didn’t even notice a huge damage difference. Due to the way damage is calculated these percentages often seem to have less of an impact then you’d think. I would not object to a damage buff, but I don’t think it is the most glaring issue.
The bow IMO could be buffed in 2 ways. Increase the damage or decrease some of the clunkiness. I would say the damage is close to other weapons, but is much much harder to hit people with. I would like them to increase arrow speed and increase the hit box very slightly. On top of this speed up the animation at the end of each shot so we can remain mobile. Skills like rapid fire shouldn’t root you and should be cancellable via a priority action like weapon swap or dodge.
The people arguing the same thing above, it’s just petty IMO. You’re both saying the same thing… The bow was nerfed compared to the damage you were used to via a bug fix. If it was balanced around this bug being active I very much doubt it. Most weapons were likely spreadsheet balanced and only adjusted as players increased in skill and figured out how to optimise these setups.
How is it that every bow user who did NOT run concussion the entire time has noticed a BIG damage drop off after this fix as well?
Don’t get stuck up on the concussion fix since bow damage got shadownerfed in general. Any experienced bow user will confirm this, PvP or PvE (but mainly PvP). Especially damage vs medium/heavy is a joke these days. Versus light it’s mostly managable if you land your shots.
Blows my mind how all these reddit andys get stuck up in pointless debates just for the sake of winning an online forum argument while not being able to stay on topic.
reduction, bug fix, tomato, tomahtoe. youre arguing semantics, its the same thing. Its a 20% reduction of damage at the end of the day, the way its explained is irrelevant.
They really aren’t. And yes, I am arguing semantics. “Reduction” and “bug fix” do in fact have different meanings. Even though you contradict yourself within the same sentence, I’d like to thank you for showing your support.
Too many fallacious arguments being tossed about in this topic. Those of you who feel the need to cry about your precious bow being “nerfed,” go ahead and cry. And just like any other tantrum, it will accomplish nothing.
lol you just said “they really arent” and the next sentence you said they are. You can’t say yes and no at the same time my man, thats not how words work. Either it is, or it isnt. you cant choose both.
He was assuming everyone understood this, bc it’s common sense lol. He’s just saying it doesn’t matter what you call it bc they’re not mutually exclusive. Call it a bug fix, a reduction, or both.
This isn’t totally accurate. I’m playing bow since the release and always sit on top 10 damage o wars and I’m not the best bow out there, there would usually a good bow player ob top 3. But in the other hand I agree bow is useless in wars as long as higher damage does not mean effectiveness. On wars, bownplayer usually hits randomly into the crowd and thats how they manage to deal high damage. Locking a target and kill it is too hard with bow. But I think damage is not the problem, problem is you cant hit consecutively to the same target with bow. So bow maybe needs a slightly damage reduction but larger hitbox and faster projectile. Because like everyone said, you need to play light armor and max 100 cons to deal high damage and as long as you’re rooted after every shot, it’s so hard to survive. Also after the rapier nerf any bow player will have to play as medium and 150 cons which makes bow weak. I dont have enough coins but I can suggest every bow player who can to switch to mage. İf you’re able to land shots with bow, fs/ig is a child play and deals huge amounts of damage
Regardless of the reason for the change, presumably when they’ve looked at the bow in it’s previous state they thought “Yep, this is what we want bow to look like”. Coming across and fixing a bug surely invalidates their previous position of bow working as intended. Meaning there needs to be some form of change, if not damage increase then something else as right now regardless of how you phrase it bow is 20% worse than it was prior to the patch.
its a good thing every complaint lately is to ether nerf ranged dps users ability to run away (make distance) or increase the chase ability for melee dps to get to them.
just give bow back the ability to shoot a light/heavy arrow and go right into pen/poison shot for bigger burst. Was in during launch, was removed after some time and ever since bow in pvp has sunk to a very low tier for 1v1’s and wars. Invasions are subjective since NPS run in straight lines.
I would also be happy if they increased the projectile speed or something instead, landing light attacks is hard when players have 4 dodges or can tank the shots running straight at you in heavy. PTR bow is looking better, but they will probably nerf it again once people see how fast you can roll out of light attacks
i tried playing on pvp server with a bow and its a joke.
everyone is so tanky 620 gear score its just impossible to make a kill.
there is less then 50 kills per team and bow is at the bottom.
best bow players cant make a kill on average player.
not even close.
medium armour is even bigger joke.
dmg is non existant.
The bow is significantly easier to use in PVE than it is in PVP. On top of that, the bow has access to good aoe while the musket does not. Single target though, the musket is SIGNIFICANTLY stronger. It’s not even questionable.
I’d like to see the bow get a flat damage buff. Nothing too insane, maybe like 5-6%, or up the damage from poison arrow and rain of arrows bleed. They’re completely negligible for PVP purposes.
