I agree with some of the complaints, but from a strategic point of view, not necessarily with the weapon itself.
There is definitely an issue with the invite algorithm. Until that’s fixed we’re going to keep having issues with the algo over-inviting people with “meta-builds”. It’s definitely a Musket Meta in open world pvp and Wars. I’ve been using Musket since launch and it’s definitely a ranged based meta now. That’s not necessarily a negative, like you all state in OPR. But it will change when a “influencer” finds something else “neat”.
If 50% of a team invited mains muskets, bows, etc, and the other team gets mostly GAs, GHs, Hatchets, etc. Melee will win, because it’s better? No. Because OPR’s scoring system is based off being on the point. As a Main Musket player it’s infuriating to watch the new meta builders just stand on a rock for 80% of the match. It literally does nothing, you get less points for you and your team, all your doing is getting a kill number sometimes …that’s it. There IS a time and place to pop shots from range, but that initial push is crucial, ranged pop shots should only be killing them in transition to Baron, when routing them to another outpost, or after you’ve taken mid and you’re in a controlling phase.
Musket is best in OPR as a mid-range build, you definitely can move in with your melee and 90% of the time they will ignore you because melee CC’s are more detrimental to them, but if you can run in, land some traps, maybe a grenade, run upstairs, you’ll get a lot more shots off than you think …AND help your team waaaaay more.
And thats the problem isn’t it, “they lose so np” - Meanwhile players are quitting left and right because for some reason they don’t find it fun sitting inside 4 walls staring off into the distance for 20 minutes.
Warhammer gets 10% fortify just by moving
10% fortify from hitting target with clear out
20% damage reduction while heavy attacking (+ grit)
10% damage reduction if 2 or more enemies are neaby
Greataxe get 20% damage reduction while heavy attacking (+ grit)
10% damage reduction while 3 enemies are nearby
This isn’t taking into consideration having enough built in damage to do actual damage even in heavy armor and their active skills toolsets including aoe CC’s on short cooldowns, healing and mobility.
I dont even know why are we arguing about this like you as a player doesnt even have control over your character because you CANT react on whats happening if you are in animation Or attack queue
Just from observing duels in tournaments, not talking numbers.
A guildmate is playing ice gauntlet/firestaff, duels against heavy armor gaxe/hammer. He hits a direct hit fireball and takes maybe a maximum of 5% hp bar from the heavy armor brawler.
Same dude melts around 50% from the hp bar of a light armored opponent with the same ability. (me)
Sure, you can say kite him around for literally 2-3 minutes, dodge and i-frame every attack. Hit every single ability you have etc. Meanwhile the gaxe/hammer player can miss half his abilities, never block, only dodge to close distance and still comes out on top.
Do you know what balancing means? The amount of effort both players have to put in is not even close to being balanced.
Even if it was supposed to be a hard counter, its just overtuned. Gaxe abilities come off cooldown before a mage/dex player can kill the dude in heavy armor.
Bow is ok, because it requires actual skill to use, FS/IG are ok, now that they’ve been “balanced”, they could probably actually use a minor buff. VG needs a giant ass nerf. Musket needs to be nerfed into the ground. It’s stupidly OP and absolute BS in every thing. I’ve seen good musket players wipe out 5/6 people in a matter of seconds, from a mile away.
Well I’m glad your basing your balancing opinion off watching a guy playing a mage build (in light armour) who’s in your guild.
Of course who knows how well your friend is geared compared to the guy hes dueling…
For one, you should tell your guild mate to use medium armour instead of light.
Tell him to also try void gauntlet/ice gauntlet when hes dueling a melee. What are his stat distributions like, he should be 250 int 200 con. Hes likely light armour 300 int, which is bad.
In terms of effort, if you’re referring ‘skill’ I would argue that nothing in new world requires any real form of skill.
True but I meant it more in the sense, the servers are trash, the combat isn’t great at all and then to top it off the only real sort of small(er) scale PvP there is becomes this massive sort of stalemate where no ones really doing anything. Some of the player base literally just do OPR and if that becomes tedious they probably wont log in.
You need to learn how to interpret numbers. Let me ask you this, now use that head…what is the Least amount of health you can possibly have… Now what’s your hp with 50 con which nearly everyone uses in the class. Now divide that by two on an imperfect build…next use the exploit…this is why OPR is musket city today. Though most will never own the gear to make a great build
Would’ve been better from the get go if you didn’t lie about numbers as a mean to get AGS to nerf a weapon. If i ran around saying armeged firestaff can crit for 10k!! you’d call me crazy even after backpedaling.
