Thought it was interesting they were not present in the PTR inside Brimstone Sands. I know they mentioned that they have a few features disabled, my guess is that maybe this is connected? Maybe an alternative? Discuss!
The disabled features are likely multiple things, as we know oadouts are now coming. Those were recently data mined. But I’m thinking they got a ton of things hidden up their sleeves right now. Still trying to figure out if we know what’s on top of the floating pyramid yet. I’m thinking super PVE arena fight or something? Music came out of nowhere so I’m thinking we still got a ton of surprises coming. Hoping they announce them soon before people find them first.
Edit: @Ghaunr pointed out that EF and MD also not getting portals. My thought is that, considering these three areas are ancient heavy arenas, and some features are turned off, does this mean that we may be getting an ancient equivalent of corrupted portals? Could we be seeing different themed invasions in those areas based on the enemy type? Just some thoughts!
If I remember correctly in the PTR patchnotes it is mentioned that portals in MB and EF are taking a break. Curious what that all means, maybe some new iteration of portals? Some better form of open world content?
That’s what I’m hoping. Maybe more dynamic events coming.
The roadmap does list “new encounters” on it and I do not believe we got any new ones since that was released. We got some prior to that.
I’m hoping for events similar to the portal events, but much more dynamic and exciting. Alongside that just more diversity. World bosses (Sand worm, plus more). Meteors falling at nighttime with rare ores. Finally dynamic resource spawns now that we have worlds up to 2500 players and we really straining the static spawns. Wondering if they considered that yet.
Also really good eye there. Maybe seeing how EF, MD, and Brimstone Sands are ancient heavy areas. Might we get an ancient equivalent? Maybe ancient themed invasions in those areas as well?
Also just for reference, at the bottom you can see “encounters.” This was released after the new ones were added to the game. So I’m assuming Brimstone includes the ones they were planning when they made this. In fact Brimstone seems to have some of them already in the PTR. I have had enemies appear randomly on the roads which is a nice touch.
I noticed a little while back they added “Random Encounters” on roads.
For example, at the northern restless shores shrine, if you head west along the road there are a few “random encounter” spots.
From my experience they are one of three events:
Lv45 Varangian Knights or Lost:
Cart broke down along the road
Setting up a campfire off the road
Patrolling the road
It’s just a small encounter, but I felt like it was AGS experimenting with dynamic spawns which included static objects (cart and campfire which do have collision)
I was actually super exited about the level 40+ Varangian as they SHOULD drop T4 gear, but they sadly still only drop T3 Varangian armor.
Yeah I believe those were released right before they released the roadmap? The only reason I make that distinction is because then that means additional encounters were planned. I think the initial phase included RS? WF? and one more low level area? It’s cool because I have encountered what I think are equivalent ones in Brimstone Sands. I’m just excited because wondering if they are considering even higher complexity encounters such as world bosses and improved portal events.
Also with the highly requested meteor events, back when people were like Gleemite meteors are the best thing ever haha. I am hoping for more non-combat events and resource based ones. Just because we are definitely getting overcrowded with the static spawns right now
