Nah SnS is so shafted literally only used for tank and had a brief period as a skitzo give that shield the 4th perk lets see it rise.

As an SnS main, I’m not in favour.
Having 6 perks is a bit crazy anyway.
My last build I was running sturdy fort, enchanted, fortifying shield rush, attunement, thwarting and keenly empowered. Having an extra perk would have been even more ridiculous. I could have ran keenly jagged and it would have been insane.
As someone has previously said switching to 2 perks on epic and 3 on Lego would be better and just delete all 4 perk shields and give them compensation.
You’re not actually doing a ridiculous amount of damage though. Even with 6 perks SnS can’t keep up with other dps weapons even if it’s spec’d that way. In fact running light makes you squisher than a normal light user so it should be compensated with an extra perk. Even when you could craft them they didn’t even go that crazy b4 they got removed.
Id rather give SnS a buff in weapon scaling than have people running around with 7 perks active.
And in terms of dmg, it’s not much worse than hatchet on a per second basis and it has a way better cleave and better tracking.
Maybe for PvP but for PvE it doesn’t stand a chance.
In pve SnS is great. What spec are you using?
You can run dual bane, with enchanted, chain or attunement, keenly empowered and vicious.
It does loads of dmg and you get the good weaken from rush.
It’s not too far off hatchet and it fares better in clumps with its superior cleave.
The only downside to pve dps SnS is it gives higher threat than most weapons.
I think that shields over 600 should just become legendary but not get an extra perk. A lot of people would stop complaining if it visually matched the rest of their gear. If they are still complaining because somehow getting 6 perks between two weapons is “unfair”, then idk what to tell them lol.
this is a fact. let us craft with stop watch again. if you didnt get 4 perk shields in the short span you could craft them your now burnt. its not like stop watch rolls where flooding the market. all time gated.
Bro what’re you talking about SnS doesn’t compete at all in PvE for DPS. We been confirmed this through a bunch of testing a long time ago. Except for Angry Earth and even next patch it’s still getting pushed out.
Grinding for a gold shield drop from a chest was probably the longest, most difficult grind I had in NW. Unless your going for goldfish Ina bowl it’s probably the most rare item you can get. 2 in 3.5k ish hours. Was nice when they dropped. I dunno if I agree with being able to craft them. The market how it is (failure) it’d be too easy for someone to roll a bunch of leggo
you could craft them is the problem. for a few months if you used a runestone stop watch and it hit 600 it rolled a 4 perk lego shield. sturdy+sturdy fort+ 2 decent perks can NOT be found in a chest, but i rolled quite a few and sold them. now i cant make myself one. runestone stopwatch+RNG to hit 600 is not flooding the market with lego shields
I want it legendary even if there is no extra perk lol I just hate having one item purple
If they are not going to add legendary shields back into the game they should just remove them all. No grandfathered in nonsense.
Just put sockets back on shields and they’ll behave like all the other weapons.
This cures the visual issue of seeing by epic on your paper doll, and it’s not an “overpowering” issue. Arena shields that used to come with gems (Dryad shield with topaz) used to exist. I tested them, the gem from sword DOES NOT stack with the gem from shield (except maybe pearls), instead the game knows when you use a shield attack (like shield bash) and applies the gem modifier then.
I was testing using fire on sword and the topaz from shield pretty extensively, this is just a utility thing. Having an alt element on shield doesn’t really make a huge difference and in the earlier versions of the game, we did have sockets on any shield.
I really want legendary shields back. That said they were kind of crap for PVP. I rolled several and they always came up with some PVE ward. So they ended up great for Mutator tanks and did nothing for PVP.

i have a legendary shield with pvp perks. with this change, I remain with my shield, however my enemy cannot create his. that is, I am always at an advantage.
one of the solutions would be to make shields with 4 perks, become shields with 3, but that would generate a lot of rage.
therefore, the best solution would be to go back to crafting legendary shields.
100% Correct. If you were making a PvE Tower Shield, 4 perk BiS was far easier to achieve since Sturdy, Mob Ward/Hated, X Elemental Ward, and Rush/Resolve were pretty reliable combinations. Though, if you were attempting to make a PvP shield (especially with Sturdy Fortification), you still had high chances of getting PvE perks thrown into the mix which would ruin an otherwise awesome 4 perk masterpiece. Bad perks like Hated, Kind, Luck, Sturdy Energy, Empowering Breaker, Sure Footing, Ruinous, Mob Wards, Diminishing Shield Bash, Arcane Shield Ward, Lightning Shield Ward, and Mortal X take up a lot of the perk pool probability: 29.04% for Rounds, 49.35% for Kites, and 45.22% for Towers to be exact. So, in all honesty, getting those Epic PvP 4-perkers came at a great cost, but that price is certainly worth the hassle.
Runestone Stopwatches were extremely niche for their short lived, 3 month comeuppance since they were Bind on Pickup, craftable once a day, guaranteed only one perk, and only crafted Sentry/Constitution gear. Overnight, Golden Scarabs became a far better commodity for high price crafts since you could guarantee your two preferred perks and hope that probability carries you to the three-perk promised land whether that is Resilient, Hearty, or Sacred as the third.
For the sake of reciprocity, reenabling Legendary shield crafting via RS Stopwatches would be good since such a change was not advertised in the patch notes whatsoever. Once the Brimstone patch dropped, a lot of players very quickly realized that the lego shields were a thing of the past despite no acknowledgment of such a correction being done. A lot of materials tragically went to waste and respect was lost from the shadow patch.
The only Brimstone patch reference for legendary shields was this: “Outpost Rush Shields no longer become legendary when upgraded with Umbral.” It was not until the Winter Convergence PTR patch details were published, and subsequently the full release of those notes, did players discover that such a change was ever made: “Removed the three recipes for Shields that allowed the use of the Runestone Stopwatch since there isn’t a point in crafting a 600 Gear Score Shield, because Shields can’t roll Legendary.”
Reintroducing Legendary Shield crafting via RS stopwatches would be a good avenue for players to:

Reengage the necessity for runestone recipes which are sadly lacking right now,

Even the playing field for shield users, whether PvE or PvP, without going the dreadful route of reducing all 4-perk shields to 3 perks,

Allow new players and returning players to acquire an item that veterans had obtained during the Summer Medleyfaire patch,
-
Enable everyone to be decked out in legendary gear from head to toe for the sake of aesthetics,
-
Allow players to craft more 4-perk shields with Perk Balance Updates expected later in the year and with Balance changes in mind,
-
And offer a definitive power budget for upcoming x weapon + shield combinations, chiefly the 1-h mace which is apparently coming in 2023!
i lost a lot of mats myself and tried to throw a fit on the forums AND by ticket and got told to shove off on them making an undocumented change to crafting on live with no notice
In a personal note I would like Lego shields to make a comeback.
But for less selfish reasons I think having the ability to run 7 perks can cause balancing issues.
