It can’t be worse than the Bow/Musket meta of 2-3 shotting people. Or the 300 grit ape m1 spamming with any weapon thats str. Or the 1 shot BB IG tank. Or the heavy armor SNS WH m1 stick to you and infinite cc you due to 20% extended cc duration. Or the hatchet free escape on any weapon in existence. Or the GS ape solo weapon. Or the m1 tracking on every weapon that goes the distance of a single dodge. Or that the only two weapons thats ranged and nukes you has infinite haste.
If we can get rid of this cancerous meta of low skill builds then yes i think a complete overhaul of weapons is due, cause it can’t be any worse than what we have been facing for the better part of a year.

I’ve heard of the BB WH combo that - if landed perfectly - kills unprepared players. (I myself don’t use it)
Rapier spear, ig fs, sns spear,Gs rapier. IG VG, LS rapier. All builds that take a “Larger” threshold of skill to entry into and rewards good game play.
But due to the nature of the game builds of lower skill throw in lower amounts of work to achieve relatively the same results. Things such as bruiser build has 300 str perks, on top of a Aoe Nuking arsenal. Heavy amounts of CC, Chasing mechanics, damage stacking mechanics, and damage reduction mechanics. BB IG has cc and mass damage to nuke people even when playing in medium build. BB IG can heavily CC people with little to no effort after then land an initial Shockwave rend. Heavy armor sns just has pure cancerous cc that even 5 freedom can’t beat, while ontop of being tanky, laying on alot of damage due to WH, and having the tracking + grit from sns m1 spamming. All low skill builds that require no need for worry about being punished, rewards you for doing one action and chaining that into a large amount of damage or just disregarding CC all for the cost of spamming m1.
The game has no risk reward factors to consider in balance, no reaction based combat, no need for precise timing or aim. You have a system that tracks your attacks to your target if you’re even out of position and not even aiming.
Welp, i’ve never seen a game with such horrible balance and loss of identity like new world.
Either make it fast pace with movement and burst like BDO or make it slower with drawn out fights and choreographed animations like mordhau or for honor. Feels like they went the dark souls route, then tried to cater to WoW players by making easy to digest mechanics then some idiot told them to just “Buff everything else” And now we have a horrible mess of everything being so overwhelmingly OP that people make suggestions to “Compensate” for the balance now. Rather than just reworking it overall.
Some people, including myself realized months ago that combat needs to be reworked, don’t need so many perks in the game and restrictions need to be added, but we simply got ignored. Well, at least now more posts like these show up on the forum. Better late than never I guess
They are working against the clock now. They have to find a way to do something substantive to stop the bleeding of players leaving in large numbers. No time for an “overhaul”. In the parlance of gaming, they have a pretty serious bleed DoT that needs to be cleansed ASAP! (haha)
You realize that you can 2-3 shot people with pretty much every single weapon in the game, if you know how to play the game properly?
Using your logic, we should just tune every weapon in the game down to 1dps (period) and eliminate all ranged weapons so people have to just stand in front of each other and faceroll the keyboard until someone dies.
Yeah i remember, the guys name was xaryu. A famous streamer who literally used his identity to shoot a one sided perspective into the community and many people took the value of his input so highly that they agree’d that all other weapons should be buffed. People called out how bad an idea that was because it was clear that resiliant wasn’t functioning properly at the time, nor was bruisers remotely balanced.
Using my logic, this is an action MMO, where there should be action. Not a “True combo” at every turn of the game. In an action MMO, the game play caters to precision timing and movement. This creates the unique perspective that the game has a higher skill ceiling than other games like WoW. Which is a “Literal” face roll game of two people standing infront of each other not worrying about wether or not their attacks miss.
