The OP is exactly right. Currently the whole focus of the game is on summoning brutes.
In my opinion only bears should be available for summoning. There’s no other branching upgrade options for outposts, upgrading should be straightforward rather than a distraction.
The range on its pull ability is honestly ridiculous, i love fighting on one side of the base just to have the brute drag me over to the opposite doorway.
Also sometimes the meatball it throws out does not even show up on my screen until its lodged in my face.
Numerous games I’ve been stomped at the start, my team struggling to hold 1 base. 2-3 brutes entering the battle later in the game quite often turns the tide - it becomes an exciting battle even if we still lose. In many of these situations though, we’ve overcome a ~500+ point difference by deploying brutes.
Other mechanics like distributing battle bread & upgrading the command post help too, and all of these side objectives add up to allow the losing team back into the game.
everything about the brute is utterly broken.
my best outpost rush experience was in a game that neither team had brutes, only players, and that’s what the game mode is all about.
we don’t need a giant creature that can brutalize your whole team and has the health pool of a lazarus boss single-handedly winning the game.
just remove it, plain and simple. oh, and please keep the azoth for our consumables.
They can be easily nuked down if your team focuses them - probably 15-20 seconds with a full group.
Just players vs players is a little boring imo - what if you end up with a musket-heavy team, or you lack healers / heavy melee etc? You’re going to lose and it’ll be a pointless fight
Except you’re with a bunch of other pugs and or bots who are AFK in the spawn?
it just distracts from the pvp, they should add something else in replace of the brute, maybe another mini baron but more forgiving than locking points.
Yeah brutes really kill the fun in outpost rush. PvE elements need to be toned town and the focus must be on PvP. They have too much HP and basically needs an organized group to kill them, but unfortunately random groups don’t care about focusing it. Even though you bring an organized group, some random guy gets aggro and runs away then its HP resets. That gives me more anger than fun. An unkillable overpowered mob in PvP with constant hp resets… I would just remove it since it kills the PvP gameplay and it’s really annoying with its CC skill spam. Whoever I talked to just hates it. The team that spawns it first at mid gets the easy win. Bear and that ghost are more than enough imo.
IMO, I would make brutes only available to a team that is losing by more than a certain percentage. Right now, at least on my server, it’s mostly used by the stronger team to turn the match into a blowout.
I like the concept of all the PVE in the outpost rush, even if I don’t participate in that part of it much. But the brutes are so overtuned it’s ridiculous and sucks a lot of fun out of the mode. Wraith is super strong too, even can 1 hit fairly geared players, but it’s balance in that it doesn’t have 40million HP. Brute, is just overtuned. The spam CC it does could be toned down a bit too.
We had a Brute fighting at Baroness the other day. No idea how it pulled all the way over there.
But yes, for the most part whoever gets the most Brutes tends to win. It usually tilts the game more in favor of the team that is doing better than acting as a comeback mechanic for the other team.
Another idea would be to make the Brute of limited duration only. Like he automatically despawns after a certain amount of time 2-3 minutes for example.
Definitely. The team of pre-mades in Discord sends a group out to get two brutes, the rest take mid. They lock it down with brutes, push the other team into spawn, and spawn farm.
Nobody comes back from a loss by using a brute that I’ve ever seen.
The best thing is kill their brutes, but you can’t get a slacker team to do that.
Not a single one of my friends like the brute. During OPR matches everyone on discord is swearing at it and at, I quote: “the idiot who thought of this stupid shit in a pvp setting”.
It’s not fun. Get rid of it. Keep the bears and the ghosts, they do enough damage and they’re helpful, they don’t turn the match into a shitfest where both teams are tossed on the floor by stupid mechanics.
