When trying to edit the Company MOTD any time you press a hotkey that opens another window it cancels the editing and opens that other window. This makes it near impossible to type in a message as most vowels are linked to interface windows. Additionally, it is impossible to copy and paste into that field.

Although the list of bugs fixed in the latest patch is impressive, this bug persists, alas. And it’s pretty straightforward - the MOTD dialog, unlike chat, does not deactivate hotkeys.

Yeah, and it’s not among the toughest fixes given that, while you wouldn’t want to make it fully modal, the entire in-game text communication system manages to disable your hotkeys while you type.
While its impact is not on the level of broken server transfers or people not getting their gold for sales, this bug is simply inexplicable a full month after the game’s release.

Yes, it’s strange that they’d be adding content without fixing this most basic of snafus.
Indeed there are bigger ones but this one stands out as the mark of a game that lacks fundamental polish. A professional, commercial product.
This is the kind of thing a junior coder could knock out in an afternoon. It’s lower in the priority list, but prevents some company communications from going out. Nobody should have to rebind their hotkeys to be able to type a MOTD. It’s just ridiculous that this is still a problem.
We actually tested the “rebind your keys” idea and found that even with rebound keys, every word including “Welcome” is prohibited. We were unsuccessful in placing anything in that field even with no keys bound. It simply creates a “Invalid Company Message of the Day”.
