[BUG] GS heavy attacks not registering against NPCs

What is your character name in New World:
Paivla

What server/world did you experience your issue on:
Artorius

Describe the issue you are experiencing:
Most of the times that I try to start a fight against an NPC with a heavy attack using the greatsword, my attacks won’t register. It will only start registering if either the NPC hits me or I hit him with a light attack/skill.
This problem seems to rarely happen with the Relentless Rush skill as well.

Is this a bug?
Most likely.

(if a bug) How did the issue affect your gameplay:
Can’t properly engage in fights against NPCs.

(if a bug) Were you able to recover from the issue:
Not really. The workaround is to either start a fight with a skill or a light attack.

(if a bug) Please include a screenshot or video of the issue that you have experienced:
Don’t have a video at the moment. Might record one and edit the post later.

What are the steps to reproduce the issue as you experienced:
Find a mob and try to damage him with a greatsword heavy attack. It consistently happens if he wasn’t aggroed before you try to hit him.

When did this happen?
Happens everytime.

upload a video ty

This happens to me on almost every attack chain I start, it is also not just vs NPC’s. It happens to me in PVP also and it is really annoying.

I am playing on the Fresh start AP Southeast server “Primordial”. It was also happening to me on “Delos” so I think it is a weapon issue.

Here is a video of what happens:

Hi there, Paiva. Thanks a bunch for reporting this. A video from you would be very helpful as Saroth has asked for as well.

@Centeotl I posted a video above.

@WulfgarGames @Centeotl

I’ve one update that could somehow be related to this problem.

I had the issue people were reporting regarding the missing buffs from the UI. I couldn’t see what actives buffs I had (besides food and music buffs) and the pop ups in the middle of the screen were not showing as well.

I’ve noticed from Wulfgar’s video that he has the same UI issue I had, and at the same time his greatsword hits were not registering. His video portrays the problem I spoke in the main post perfectly.

I’ve done the “community workaround” to fix the UI issue and since them my greatsword hits are registering as expected. I’d ask that you, Wulfgar, try it out too and see if it somehow fixes your greatsword problem too.

Do the follow to fix it:
Close the game, right click the clock on your Windows taskbar, click on Adjust date/time, set to “On” both time and time zone automatic settings and then click on “Sync now” to synchronize your clock.

This will fix the UI issue, and may actually fix your greatsword hits as well. Try it out.

Beware that you may have to click “Sync now” once every few days. You don’t actually have to keep track of it, just do it if you notice your buffs stopped showing on screen (the one that’s very easy to notice it’s missing is the movespeed buff you get from sprinting on roads, it should show a boot icon with an “-”)

I play Greatsword and have noticed that too. It doesnt happen often, but sometimes when there is a hill, stairs or objects nearby that blocks the skill attack.

This happens to me a lot but I noticed that it works but you have to wait a few seconds longer/delayed for the hit to registered - so during that time you cannot attack or do another move. This needs to be fixed.

Yes I did have the missing UI BUFFS issue, I used the date/time fix and it fixed my UI bug and it seems to have fixed my hits not registering. So this is the solution it seems!
