Bug or how the game works?

I think this seems to happen with all weapons but I noticed more obviously with weapons like GA and sword that pull. When I am being hit with light attacks I can’t dodge or use an ability unless I am not being hit anymore. It’s even more obviously when being hit by multiple weapons because the window of when not being hit is smaller or none at all. It feels almost like you are stuck walking slowly but can’t roll or use abilities. There are plenty of times when it happens that I am spamming my keys for an ability or a dodge and they won’t go off. It only seems to work if I stop pressing all keys, wait a second or two, and then press the key. But most of the time by the time I can do that I am already dead. Anyone else experience this? Is it an issue with the game or just how it works?

Sword abilities don’t pull.

Great axe has a perk that roots players on any of their many abilities that pull.

Both weapons have a few abilities that stagger.

I am not talking about abilities. This is happening with light attacks.

There’s some wonky input issues going on for sure.

The amount of times I’ve experienced and heard strangers in-game comment on inputs not going through has drastically increased in the last couple weeks. Everything from abilities to weapon swaps just not happening when the button is pressed.

So theres a bug currently where sometimes you get stuck in a state where you cannot use the abilities and to fix it you have to swap weapons.

Im not 100% sure how it happens but tends to happen when im getting hit at the same time I try to fire out a skill, usually from a pack of mobs.

Some of the things happening are probably intended, like when you get hit you will walk slower or whatever but there are also some bugs occuring.

Drinking a full stack of resist pots on a run because the button registers the same way for this and goes wonky then catches up 10 drinks when it works.

What you are experiencing is amazons worst ever implemention in this game. It is called “Animation buffering” It was in the december patch and it lead to an enormous ammount of people quitting the game.

What is it? Animation buffering basically locks you into animations for longer. There is also a limit on how many animations your character can play at once. I believe the “animation blending” only goes up to 2.
What does it mean in reality? It means you cant drink a potion while getting hit. Because the hit is taking up the blendspace for the drinking animation. etc. But this was always the case. However, since they introduced the animation buffering it means that the lack of better animation blending is more apparent since drinking a potion takes longer. and the “hit by light attack” animation also takes longer. you can effectively get “action locked” if you are hit by multiple attacks.

It is god awfull and the combat took a massive L once they implemented this unbelievably stupid change.
