Why is this skill so Fn useless?
Ever dam neg effect stops it in its tracks,
Casting the dam spell, its cast timer is a joke
Ever dam Hit interrupts you or Staggers you.
Oh yeah I forgot its a Magic weapon,
Oh Look Fleche, Insta cast, Gets away from anything, Oh, its a Melle weapon

You just need to learn when and how to use it. I get of of sticky situations all the time with it. If it got grit it would just be too op. Especially with the changes to the perk.
Bump. This skill rlly need some love. Its close to being usless in pvp.
Issue is that animation does take long and any enemy can use any skill to stop burn out.
Most situations are where enemies are not on you, you want to get distance with burn out so you start it - enemy does see this and does use close distane skill he has and stops your burnout. 50% chance you will die there as light mage - depends if you were close to full hp or not. If you were low and tried to use burn out to get out and heal - you die.
Imho grit on this skill would make it to good. But casting time has to be lower. Animation is just to long. In example enemy GA can charge to get closer and then reap mage that is still fara away. Most use case for burn out is - “do i want to sucide?”.
burnout is far from a useless ability. you just dont know how to use it lol. when fleche can carry you 15 ft in any direction then you can come and complain.
You can apply Burning on a player with either abilities or light attacks (yes, Light Attacks can crit) that crit with the minor trait “Watch it Burn” under Pyromancer tree. When they crit and that DoT isn’t friendly when they don’t have Vigor in their gear and you have Burning perk on your ring. Secondly, Fireball is excellent to hurl at player which also applies Burning DoT, then if you are close enough, Burn Out also applies Burning DoT…so, you have three times the Burning that be applied on a single player, or with Fireball + Burn Out, you can apply burning that way.
Forget going after Healers and Bruisers, that won’t kill them. The low con DEX players and Mages are ideal or players which are low HP while fighting other players which you can easily kill them with a few Burning DoT’s applied, hit them with a Fireball and finish them up with Burn Out if you are close enough.
Fireball is going to be even better if the perk is on your Firestaff after patch and the crit that it can proc is pretty good. I wouldn’t say Burn Out is useless, it does have it’s advantages in PvP when there’s a mob chasing you down or some Bow player just keeps trying to poke you with arrows and need to retreat to a safe location.
You just need to work with it a bit more. Burn Out isn’t really used to escaping, in the right hands and skill, everything I’ve mentioned how to deal more damage can be very useful in PvP. Good luck to you!
So what you are saying, I should attack a certain type of Player, because my weapons skills are useless to the majority of the players that play the game. Got it.
What? No. Not saying that at all. Not every player will be able to withstand Burn Out with Fireball combo. If you know how to use the skills effectively, and chain them with your other weapon, then you can deal some major damage in combination. That’s all I was getting at. I don’t use FT, Meteor Shower or Incinerate.
Flamethrower = deals considerable amount of damage, however you’re mobility is limited making you a easy target for bruisers w/ chain stuns.
Meteor Storm = weak damage against players, ideal for AoE but not strong enough. Channeling limits mobility again, ideal kill from a bruiser w/ chain stuns or ranged Bower.
Incinerate = Underperforming in both PvE and PvP. Damage could be better.
It’s not useless but it is frustrating to use. The fact that the RUN SPEED bonus from the same skill tree applies during the WIND UP animation is really silly. It needs to start the run speed effect after the animation ends or is interupted. You can currently animation cancel and get the speed bonus too.

When did I ever even talk about rapier not being melee? youre either fighting shadows or this is a terrible attempt at gaslighting lol.
your argument that burnout should be much faster because fleche is almost instant is dumb. They are completely different weapons, made for different playstyles and they do completely different things. Fleche is not overpowered and burnout isnt even close to being a bad ability. Either get better or at least stop trying to attack people who are clearly just replying to your troll post lol
All players who have decent amount of hours on FS will agree that burn out casting time is way to long. It limits skill usability. Since all mele builds have time to close distance gap and stop burn out from happening. And all range can just shot mage to stop it.
the original burnout was awesome. you shot through anything and left a trail of fire on the ground that aoe damaged anyone who crossed it and then dotted them with fire. was so epic. the hammer shockwave had twice the radius. when you dropped the bomb it wrecked.
everything was slowly made more boring over time. less fun.
