So my character is level 50 and I’m using a hatchet. I typically start out doing like 600 crit damage, then it goes up to about 1200 crit. The other night I was playing and the damage was 2400 crit, nothing has changed with my gear or anything. Just wondering why the damage reduction takes place.
You probably didnt switch weapons and used without knowing the hatchet dmg exploit
The damage of the “Against All Odds” perk was bugged, scaling incorrectly, and not ending after 3 seconds like stated. So you were stacking damage more and more with each enemy you got within 5m of.
Should be corrected after today’s patch.
There was a bug for one of the weapon mastery perks which caused damage to stack. This should have already been addressed though.
It’s a perk that causes the increase damage that scales with enemies that are nearby. On a related note there is a bug in 1.0.4 and earlier which causes it to perpetually stack until you swap weapons. It has been exploited.
Amazon said this is being fixed in today’s 1.0.5 update.
I see, I don’t read the forums a bunch but since the server was down I thought I’d ask. Thanks for the info guys.
Ooof… bit late to the party dude

As a side note AGS, THIS is why ALL perks, buffs, or otherwise that give the player any kind of increase to damage should have a VISUAL indication.
You do this for food, healing, bleed effects, Bloodlust, etc, but broken perks like Against All odds had no buff icon. If it had, knowing it was bugged would have been instantly noticeable to you and the players.
I’m going to assume you replied to me instead of someone else? I’m not sure how saying its getting fixed today, as we’re literally in maintenance right now, is late to the party?
Of course those exploiting this have been merrily upping their GS wiping through enemies and bosses but nothing will happen to them…
I replied to the OP using part of your reply as the quote
Swapping weapons, farming nodes with tools and I THINK searching some chests reset it. So you had to go out of your way to get the bug. As a mainly PvE player I never went long enough without switching to my musket or gathering for it to take affect.
Cant possibly be an exploit if it happens when you are just using your weapon. Its called a game breaking bug
Correct but even while it was active, there was no indication to the player. Sure us number crunchers would have noticed something was off real quick, but a lot would have had no indication at all something was wrong.
I’m 54, literally had no idea it was happening as an exploit. I just though I found something special or upped a piece of gear that was making more damage.
nothing should happen to them. Simply using a weapon is not an exploit. saying any different is just ignorant
Yes and no. Of course using a weapon as intended isn’t aan exploit, but knowing the weapon is bugged and scaling way higher than it should be and still using it for that reason is the very definition of exploiting a bug to gain an advantage.
Not an exploit and it was happening with the GA and Hammer, just not to the same effect due to their speeds. If you look at the patch notes you will see that the fix was not listed under the exploit section.
It won’t be called an exploit unless it was used to knowingly gain an advantage over another player. Mobs don’t get to testify.
