Can we get a central city that can't be claimed that the community can upgrade?

Can we please get a central city that can’t be claimed? Make it everyone can put mats/gold towards upgrades at the town board, and the next upgrade starts when the last is done.

Really tired of companies just maxing the taxes to drive people out before they lose the zone or just because they can.

PvE players shouldn’t be punished by PvP players just to gear them out faster for PvP/PvE.

No, because it defeats one of the largest reasons of owning territories.

And this isn’t just a pvp game, it is a pve game with pvp as optional.

Whatever you say. You’re the boss.

@Lavick81 Could be interesting, if there were to be a neutral zone.
That could perhaps be owned by all three faction company representatives.
It would undoubtedly end up as a ‘capital’ hub of sorts.

Would rather no player have a hand in owning it or running it

I understand the frustration as I’ve felt it to. But I think a upgradable neutral city would kill the territorial war system. If it was a limited crafting tier upgrade then it could work.

I saw a suggestion about adding minor capturable strategic locations such as farms, mines, etc for smaller companies to capture. If they removed the faction system from settlements with companies solely owning them it could open up the world for more dynamic play such as small companies joining and support the settlements of larger ones who offer better tax rates and protection etc.

How? Every city can have its stations upgrade and they DO NOT downgrade when the area is changes hands. So that isn’t a reason to go to war at all.

Taxes controlled by players is just a bad idea.

Most probably.
People would just end up being content with just settling in the capital & sprinkling their houses around to/for convenient teleport locations.

Sorry but if you pvp/war just to collect taxes off people that don’t then that is the problem and has been for all of history.

tax hikes hurts everyone, not just other factions.

people need to stop supporting companies that do this, and let them fight their own battles… maybe after they’ve lost enough towns from lack of support, plus gone broke from people refusing to pay the high taxes, and they’ll either break up or learn how to play.

Yh, so far in my server tax hikers have lost their defensive wars.
People do not sign up for their wars, then they end up with sub lvl 50 war compositions.

Good troll there.

It’s going to be the taxation being spent to gear controlling company players instead of sole town upgrades that will make me quit before too long. Its basically a PVE player penalty. Whoever thought giving the controlling company the ability to basically highway rob all the players on the server a good idea should hand light the Blue Origin rockets from underneath on the weekends.

The starter cities should be this way. Limit what goes on the auction house to tier 1 items, no housing, and maybe cap the crafting areas to level 2? You gotta give and take when offering a set up like this.

Over the course of the game I’m sure they will eventually go to a 2 faction system with some cities remaining neutral. This setup isn’t going to last forever.

Wrong.

I completely agree. I never had a problem with any of the taxes except the Property Tax. But, then things were explained to me about how they work, and how you can choose to not pay it. You’d not have use of your house, but there are no back taxes for when you start paying them again.

So, my point is, we have the tools to fight the high tax rates. I’m not rich enough to afford a house yet, and I want to get my standing up to get the biggest house for my first “half price” purchase. But, when I do, and I’ll probably get 3 of them, I will simply turn off paying taxes if a Company decides they want to gouge us with taxes.

As for everything else, I moved all of my inventory from Brightwood to Monarch’s Bluff yesterday on my server. The Company that controls Brightwood is my faction, so I obviously can’t fight them in a war. But, they insist on having crazy high taxes. So, I’m going to be crafting in Monarch’s Bluff until further notice. Monarch’s Bluff has good crafting and refining rates, is in my faction, and I have a lot of standing there, so I can do my thing relatively cheap.

When I have stuff to sell, I’m bringing it all to Windward. Windward has the best trading taxes that beat my standing and faction bonuses in any other settlement even though Windward is not controlled by my faction.

At least this was how it was yesterday. In general, I don’t expect rates to be yo yo’ing all over the place. Though I am aware that at some point rates may change, and I’ll have to move my crafting and trading to other settlements.

I think more and more people will start to realize they can actually do something about the high taxes and the Companies that are trying to take everyone’s money will realize they won’t be able to do it long term and will either have to give up the territory or start playing differently.

And if they don’t? It ends up being no skin off my nose, because it just means I won’t craft there. I can still get all of the faction and standing quest bonuses without needing to pay taxes.
