I think a cool addition to the game would be an “inspect” function. This would permit players to use the “H” menu interface and inspect the gear of a player nearby. It would show what they have equipped and the player’s gear score. It would not show their inventory, including gold, another count, and items etc.
Not going to lie - it doesn’t have a ton of utility, but I think it’s a way to more readily share information about builds and maybe help players think about new ways to play the game. It’s not obtrusive. It’s not like you can do it to anyone - only those nearby - and it facilitates conversation. Perhaps another positive aspect is that it allows people to vet dungeon teammates before they go inside, but that’s not the motivation of this suggestion.
Like it but only if they add a Button that lets ppl inspect only if you agree. Otherwise ppl will just copycat someones gear and combination ideas as they came up with.
I think that’s fair. Although to some extent a lot of the stuff won’t be easily copied. Like I can’t just go and find a 600 Laz Bow, or necessarily afford to buy a similar amulet off the AH. But yeah I hear ya, it’s a reasonable concern.
You don’t get it, there is less problems with the inspect.
Scenario 1) Someone inspects you, realizes that you are dead weight to the group and declines you join or…
Scenario 2) You join the group, drag everyone down, get flamed for being trash at the game, never get invited again and you wasted everyone’s time, including your own.
It’s now the player’s fault the developers implemented scaling in the worst possible way for mutations.
I mean it’s the game. It doesn’t “facilitate” toxicity beyond what exists right now, unless you’re someone who is lying about your GS to group members to get dungeon runs. Frankly, if you’re lying about GS to get runs then there might need to be some introspection.
We can disagree about the expertise system and umbral shards. I just think this would be cool. It would be fun to see how people are building out sets.
That’s the thing; maybe if orbs weren’t timegated to hell and back again dungeon runs wouldn’t be so toxic to get into to begin with. I have always been asking for the timegates to be removed, they serve nothing more than to create unnecessary toxicity, such as people requiring x gs or what have you just to run a dungeon with them. Me lying, no. I’m still only level 45 because my depths orbs have been wasted on failed attempts, and I cannot get anyone to help me with the stupid portal runs needed to get a depths orb, plus all of my friends don’t even exist on the server I am on, and I refuse to play without my friends. … so I need that 2nd round of server transfers that should’ve happened in DECEMBER to have happened already, but AGS are dragging their feet on THAT problem too. I’ve all but given up on this game, and I’m getting extremely close to just cutting my losses and moving on.
Edit: I realize now I could just faction vendor a depths orb, but back when I was screwed by the orb system I still couldn’t get anyone’s assistance on the problem. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have to wait 2½ MONTHS to complete a stupid required quest because time gates and resource gates are necessary for ‘balance’ when it comes to the ‘rewards from expeditions’. These stupid orbs still have got to go, no matter WHAT kind of argument people can spin up for them. They’re toxic, they’re unnecessary and stupid. If AGS is soo determined to slow the player down in regards to progression, there’s this wonderful thing known as LOOT LOCKOUTS that can exist, which does NOT prevent the player from enjoying the instanced content to begin with, especially when it comes to making available the players to help clear expeditions for those that aren’t the top 1% sweat-induced grinder. They’ve ALREADY got the implementation for such a thing with their gypsum loot lockouts, so just apply them to the loot of dungeons and remove the stupid orbs.
I actually think it is necessary or becoming necessary with the higher level Mutations. They made gear score matter so much and no way to look at someone gear.
