I did test this with 2 Great Axes and one cut flawed amber, as well as a brilliant amber and compared it to the damage the Great Axe dealt before inserting any gems. I’ve seen a lot of Life Staff / Hatchet builds online suggesting that you should stakc everything into FOC and whack an amber gem into your hatchet. The idea being, you get all your healing and benefit from decent attack with the hatchet. However, I’m not sure that is the case.
The tooltip/description says that 30% of damage is converted to nature, also that scaling with focus if focus is higher than the weapon base damage.

bump. I just spent a ton of gold/resources/time switching to a paladin build thinking how cool it would be. Now I do 150 a swing with my sword at level 50 and without even a post to say they are working on the issue I’ll probably have to go spend another huge amount of gold/resources/time to switch back so that I can do anything. Or just be life staff only but who knows when they will reach out about this issue. This is extremely frustrating.
It does suck. I found using an emerald gem in my Hatchet does more damage overall than an amber gem and I’m pure focus
