Currently there is 300 people waiting in queue to play on Pluto. I transferred off Orun to avoid queues so I can actually play and enjoy the game.
I recognize the concern with returning players, however the general trend for 6 months has been once a server is locked; it begins the death spiral.
What I suggest is going off unique server logins over a 2 week period of time to dictate whether to lock/unlock servers. Pluto is not currently locked and I predict the queue times will only get longer. Could this be prevented? Absolutely.
Under the current “locking/unlocking” procedures, Pluto is destined to become the newest mega server which will then become locked and begin the process of dieing (see Valhalla, Eden, Orun, etc)
Seeing how transferring has become an instantaneous process, I also suggest putting inactive players in “stasis”, IE not attached to a server (after a period of X days). if they do happen to login, they can choose an active unlocked server.
This would allow the dev team to be much more responsive to an overpopulated server, and help boost former mega servers retain their population.
