Can you please take another look at the Fresh server release date

So i tried to reply to this my self but im just going to quote another forum user that are better with words then i am

Good evening,

if I can give my humble opinion with the experience that I have had of fresh in other mmos.

You will create a first arrival of players on the 18th who will want to test the update, so you will open a number of servers to cope with the influx of players. But the majority of people will just want to test a bit and train for rush on 02/11
So at the opening of 02/11, an even larger mass of players will return or abandon their characters that were created on the recent servers, creating a complete imbalance for players who do not want to start over. I don’t think it will affect the historical servers (nysa and the others…) but you will have to manage a massive influx on the new servers without possible transfer and the backup servers created for the 18th.

It would have been better even if I understand it is not easy to manage, to do everything on the same day at least the population would have stabilized and spread over the x servers that you will open. You could have opened servers with possible transfer for people who don’t want to start over and just transfer old servers like now. and the new servers as complements.

Now, you will just add a lot of work and a lot of problems that will result from this.

moreover usually the new start servers are launched the day the expansion is released… but here you add us two weeks of waiting which will just have all the negative effects, and the flight ahead of the players who will come back to test train on the 18th.

Archeage, Aion, wow and other games have all made successful new starts the day or so before their expansion releases please take a cue from them.

Thanks @ Imanech

I can ask my 5-year-old “what’s the secret to happiness” and she will respond “delayed gratification.”

I’m sorry no one taught you this as a child, but better late than never.

Personally, i think this makes a lot of sense to wait. Regardless of the amount of time to stand these servers up, fresh start is going to appeal most to a certain subset of players either giving ags a second or first chance.

Getting this update live making sure the week one bugs are fixed ensures a better experience and higher retention rate.

There is less players who will be not rtyi g in because of the two week delay than they may lose perminently with a poor performance of launch.

The players on live servers already suffered all the other bugs we are acceptable guine pigs for the update.

So should that only count for this patch or all updates? Should all updates go live 2 weeks earlier on legacy server then fresh servers? I truly dont see this argument. Should legacy server be a test server for fresh servers?

If they are worried about bugs and exploits then we have PTR and they should postpone the patch to they feel certain they are fixed (if massive/game breaking)

If you’re not gonna go to WoW and stay here, then just wait for it. You’re literally just waiting for 2 weeks.

Like i stated before, i never going back to wow and i ask you to find any proof of me coming with any ultimatum or threats about leaving.

So what’s the point in this then? They’re not gonna move that date since at launch, where they learned a lot of unresolved bugs. They want to clear that out first to make sure it all runs well. Just sit tight and wait.

Belive it not, its not about me. Even that im hyped and would like to see the fresh start server came a few days earlier then the patch.

Its about the health of the game, i think this goes a long way in hurting the game. I feel like i have stated that in earlier posts.

  • Returning players are going to miss the once a year event.

  • Some might get burned out by starting over at a legacy server, staying there for 2 weeks then start over for a 3. time on the fresh server.

  • It would make it harder for the DEVs to balance the servers since the playerbase are going to be “unstable” and i do not think having a huge playerbase that moves around in huge numbers are good for the game/servers or the players.

  • some players are going to loose the hype and move on to other games that releases in the same “window”. Its easier to loose a player that is not invested in the game then a player that have invested time and maby money in the game.

Am i a idiot and you think all this is wrong @ ReadyPlayer Like i stated many times over, im not a game dev im just a player that have played games since 1990 and for me this makes little to no sense at all. But i have been wrong before and if you think all i stated here is wrong please say so and how im wrong. How do you think this is a healthy decision for the game (not for me or you, but the game in general)

How many events have people that aren’t playing missed already. They’ll be fine.

Yeah the problem with this is that the ptr is oftentimes not the same build as live. And that people sometimes use it to find and test exploits and not report them.

how is that the same as missing event that is during when you are playing? I might be wrong but the event should not be over 2. nov but do you think a lvl 1 can get any meaningful things out of that event?

AGS have been hinting about fresh servers for weeks now, that combined with new and impressive patch = hype. Dont get me wrong im not going anywhere but i find it sad that we cant attend the event.

True, does this mean that you think that legacy servers should turn into test servers for FFS? We all agree that its imposible to be 100% bug free.

Pretty sure it’ll be over before FSS come out but if it’s not, it will only take under a week to hit 60 :man_shrugging:.

Unpopular opinion, I don’t mind it. If people on legacy servers are going to take advantage of bugs and exploits, then that’s their problem.

I dont think so, i think they are going to increase the even duration but im afraid its not going to be enough for most players to attend it.

Is one week for sweaters or a more normal timer for a normal gamer?

As a fresh server player i do see your point. But i would think that is a bad way to threat players. But i guess let dirty be dirty right :stuck_out_tongue:

The changes that they are making ensure that even a casual player should be able to get a lvl 60 character within a week tops. If you load of the ptr and start a new character, you will see this.

It’s not AGS treating the players badly, it’s the players treating other players badly.

I never stated that AGS IS treating players badly. I said if they use legacy server as test server they would treat em badly since i think that is a bad move.

This is good news, but not sure if it still enough time to get any effect out of the event but i guess time will tell

I got to 30 on PTR in a longish day. 7 hours, with occassional fresh air breaks? At least in the early levels, questing is very much a great way to level up. The later levels haven’t been modified AFAIK and 30-60 takes a lot more XP. So no, not 60 in a week if you play a couple of hours in the evening, but also not a crazy long time.

Next year will come and they will get another chance

Happens to everyone. Take a break once in awhile.

It’ll always be like that because a lot of hype people are only riding the hype-train. Once the hype-train dies down then the few diehards who stay will keep the game alive.

That will always happen. Like I said those who really enjoyed the game, like myself and alot of the veterans here, will stay and play.

idk you so idk if you’re an idiot or not. But you aren’t wrong for somethings.

Because if they release it without confidence, and it turns out to be buggy, guess what’ll populate the forums for the next 3 weeks or so? Complaints about the game, and there was craptons at the start of the game. There will always be die hard fans and those fans will stay, while hype riders will leave. That’s just how it is, and you can’t really control them, that’s how people decide.

even with event, there still a lot of people would prefer to do fresh start. putting it after the brimstone just make it awfully long. Plus fresh start with brimstone will be really high pop on each since most everyone wants to reach that map
