@tosh
Dont do this Watermark Thing! It will destroy whats left of ur playerbase. And for new Players it even gets Harder to catchup.
If u do this to the gearscore system u will kill the Game…
The playerbase with 2-4h Platime on every Seconds day will see no gainings in there effort.
Fire the Guy who came Up with this Idea

I’ve read all the AGS posts on the matter. I have reasonably good reading comprehension. It doesn’t say that at all. You keep insisting it does. Can you provide a link or quote or screenshot of AGS saying they are resetting everyone’s watermark. Seriously, if it exists, I missed it.
“While we understand to some players this may result in a temporary reduction in power, we believe in the long run this will result in more rewarding progression loop that can’t be bypassed by buying gear off the trading post.”
Basically 2 explanations of “SOME” players:
-
Those who don’t have high watermark but are wearing 590+ gear which they bought/crafted.
-
Those who already have high watermark and are wearing 590+ gear but because HWM is reset, they will need to regrind it again.
I really hope 1) is right. If 2) is right its like reseting trade skills to 1.
Did you miss the part where i said Crafted gear shouldnt be downscaled? Last i checked MOST crafted gear can be sold.
Also - Crafting in the end game is absurd right now. Its essentially 3-5k gold per attempt at an item for a completely random chance. There are what… 4 perks and a stat on a legendary? YEah… we should be able to force a stat and a perk for that cost.
To clarify - grinding WM will open up a ton of legendaries. It will also drop random chance legendaries many of which have tightly grouped stats (See devs previous comments on magic items and their stat groupings on drop). Grinding WM, and then farming gear costs you NOTHING.
Crafting costs 10s of thousands for a chance at ONE decent piece.
they are aware people spent hundreds of hours crafting gear for themselves and are reseting that, so why wouldn’t they also reset watermark? Destroying player progress is clearly not out of bounds
The AGS posts on the matter is the exact source I am talking about. If I can’t even trust a AGS representative then I don’t know what to expect from the game anymore.
I guess we’ll see when things hit the PTR.
or 3) those who have reached 60 and gave any gear higher than 500
Yes, it seems clear to me that they expect you to understand number 1, Ales. Especially because earlier in the message they talk about people bypassing the watermark by buying gear above their level. This explains why they go on to say that “to some players this may result in a temporary reduction of power.”
If they intended to reset everyone, it would be a “reduction in power for everyone.” (bar players who haven’t even hit 501 yet).
ptr wont tell you if they are reseting watermark, they already said expertise is not based on item level, so self crafted items are nerfed. Purchased items are 100% nerfed, they specifically said purchased items in the dev post
They’re not resetting it. You’re exaggerating your loss, because that gear is still valid and will be stronger and stronger as your expertise increases? You will never have to buy incremental gear as your expertise rises. And once you hit 600 expertise, it will have reached its full potential?
No you can’t. If it took you lets say 300k gold to craft your 3 perfect
gs 600 jewelery items there is NO WAY IN HELL to get gs on earrings, rings and neclace even close to 600 within a year!
They don’t reset your trade skills tho. They even improve them to yield multiple materials if you craft at 200 trade skill level.
It costs you time which you could spend farming professions or just gold. So its not truth it doesn’t cost anything.
Bruh i got to 540 average just by picking chests for crafting materials. Dont play like HWM was hard to level. Its not even close to hard compared to crafting. Especially AFTER the change to crafting/exp.
This is hands down the dumbest idea IGS has had. Spending hundreds of hours on professions only to get absolutely fkd by AGS. All the other bugs and stuff can be over looked, but taking players hundreds of hours of grinding professions…come on dude. AGS staff, READ THE ROOM, USE YOUR BRAINS. AGS hired a bunch of community college graduates for this dev team it appers.
You either spend time on grinding WM from mobs or spending hours of grinding and farming to CRAFT your items. You EARN everything you spend your time grinding for.
Its gets slower the higher you are.
they are resetting it because one day you will have 600gs power level and the next day you will have 500gspowerlevel.
its exactly the same thing as if they reset players hwm to 500 expertise, they would still have the items they earned with the HWM system
don’t confuse what you want to be true with what they explicitly said, its unknown currently if hwm will translate to expertise, and even if it does, half the players will lose their itemization power
We have no official info about resetting HWM yet.
Where in the announcement did people start thinking that HWM will be reset? I don’t see it. Am I reading the same thing or do people have a vastly different understanding of English from me?
