4-5 builds is a good start.
They’ve been buffing lesser used skills while nerfing oped ones, which is what they’re supposed to do to keep it varied…But they can only do so much considering that the bulk of the population will always gravitate towards builds that require the least amount of effort for the most results.
ESO has never had much diversity. Pvp = Stam = d-swing spam with fury or poison injection NB. Now it’s d swing + 30 proc sets
ESO’s PVP combat is way better than new worlds though. Because it’s so diverse with it’s sets and how the mechanics are. There is a literal counter for everything. New world doesn’t even have DRs on stuns or roots… let alone an actual hard counter like a simple break free mechanic.
Ight bud say what you will my dude. We get it you think its the combat that lost the numbers to this game. I mean thats completely untrue and no data could even suggest that, however I agree that they should have some sort of diminishing returns to roots and stuns.
It is not only combat. It is the overall attitude towards everything nowadays.
No one wants to make up his own mind, come up with solutions of his own.
Everyone flocks to “the biggest”, “the strongest”.
There is no individuality left.
First question people ask:
“what is the fastest way to level”. Then they do that
“what is the strongest faction”. Then they go there
“what is the most OP build”. Then they skill that.
Then they try to join the biggest company with the most territory and go to the largest server.
That is how people roll. For whatever reason.
And if they then fail with something, or it does not work out for them as expected they start complaining that it must be fixed. After all they did everything correct and surely must always win now. If not → whine until someone fixes it for them
The last time I played cyrodiil was dead except for 2 hours out of the day.
The new lead completely wrecked combat and turned it into a proc fest.
Blunderbuss isn’t going to change much. at first everyone will be leveling one but the’ll end up dropping it because the current weapons offer more and deal more damage.
It would’ve changed things around if the claw pull players to you.
Giving all melee a viable ranged alternative is gonna be tricky to keep balanced, but Im glad theyre going this direction.
Honestly I like it better that it pulls you to them.
Might even open up a viable heavy mage build
with fire (incen/fireball/burnout or flamethrower)
since you can “jump” into the middle of a group
instead of having to walk.
Knowing we can get nice and general weapons
like daggers but them being able to throw a curveball like bbus into the mix keeps me hopeful for the future, too.
I wish they would make IG more interesting. Wind Chill is a boring copycat of Flamethrower and Ice Pylon is straight up lame. Give it 2 more unique abilities that people would actually want to run in PVP aside from the same old Ice Shower, Ice Storm, Ice Spike/Entombed combo. Maybe give it an icy carpet-like ability that you can slide around on for the sake of a mobility perk. Maybe summon a circle of spikes from out of the ground to lock your enemy in place, but it’s a shorter root and has lower cooldown, as an alternative to Ice Shower (one upgrade perk could be a larger outer ring that simply slows but doesn’t root, could make the root point very small, more skill based). I’m just rambling now but I’ve gotten so bored of IG. It would be nice to have more freedom for creativity in viable PVP builds.
