PvP is always meta based as there are too many people desperate to win, as that’s how they enjoy a game.
Idk i feel like ive seen more variations of builds this last patch then at any other time. I think they are getting there. We will also get different build variations with new weapons coming.
4-5 builds is a good start.
They’ve been buffing lesser used skills while nerfing oped ones, which is what they’re supposed to do to keep it varied…But they can only do so much considering that the bulk of the population will always gravitate towards builds that require the least amount of effort for the most results.
ESO has never had much diversity. Pvp = Stam = d-swing spam with fury or poison injection NB. Now it’s d swing + 30 proc sets
ESO’s PVP combat is way better than new worlds though. Because it’s so diverse with it’s sets and how the mechanics are. There is a literal counter for everything. New world doesn’t even have DRs on stuns or roots… let alone an actual hard counter like a simple break free mechanic.
I mean NW has Iframes and charges that literally counter stuns and roots…
Yeah and look at how good it’s numbers are…
Lol yeah im sure its less about the combat and more about the bugs, exploits, and low amount of content.
I don’t think people are really understanding how much bbussy is about to shake things up.
Or so we thought…
There are currently more people in Cyrodil and imperial City right now than there are pvping in New World at any given time
Ight bud say what you will my dude. We get it you think its the combat that lost the numbers to this game. I mean thats completely untrue and no data could even suggest that, however I agree that they should have some sort of diminishing returns to roots and stuns.
It is not only combat. It is the overall attitude towards everything nowadays.
No one wants to make up his own mind, come up with solutions of his own.
Everyone flocks to “the biggest”, “the strongest”.
There is no individuality left.
First question people ask:
“what is the fastest way to level”. Then they do that
“what is the strongest faction”. Then they go there
“what is the most OP build”. Then they skill that.
Then they try to join the biggest company with the most territory and go to the largest server.
That is how people roll. For whatever reason.
And if they then fail with something, or it does not work out for them as expected they start complaining that it must be fixed. After all they did everything correct and surely must always win now. If not → whine until someone fixes it for them
Nah dawwggggg I think that people would rather play an 8 year old MMO that has better PVP than this pile of hot garbage that AGS has given us.
That was the point I was making
Definitely something needs to be adjusted or balanced. But the way AGS balances things is really taking too far with the number.
Take DotA 2 for example, the way IceFrog balances things is top-notch. Small, but noticeable and still keep the uniqueness for each hero.
And for sure us, players took part in this mess. Most of us complain a lot. Please git gud.
The last time I played cyrodiil was dead except for 2 hours out of the day.
The new lead completely wrecked combat and turned it into a proc fest.
Blunderbuss isn’t going to change much. at first everyone will be leveling one but the’ll end up dropping it because the current weapons offer more and deal more damage.
It would’ve changed things around if the claw pull players to you.
The variation is will the AoE CC be gravity well or ice storm.
Quite exciting really.
Everyone running the same 4-5 builds soon? Everyone’s running basically 3 builds right now, with the sprinkle of musket / bow.
Giving all melee a viable ranged alternative is gonna be tricky to keep balanced, but Im glad theyre going this direction.
Honestly I like it better that it pulls you to them.
Might even open up a viable heavy mage build
with fire (incen/fireball/burnout or flamethrower)
since you can “jump” into the middle of a group
instead of having to walk.
Knowing we can get nice and general weapons
like daggers but them being able to throw a curveball like bbus into the mix keeps me hopeful for the future, too.
Um you have GW2, ESO, BDO, and now Lost Ark’s PvP. That don’t have a singular meta like New World.
In ESO you can be competitive on multiple classes with each having a few competitive playstyles for PvP.
In BDO you have 5 or 8 competitive PvP playstyles.
Lost Ark you have a few competitive playstyles in PvP.
Oh I forgot GW2, again there are quite a bit of different competitive PvP playstyles in GW2’s PvP scene.
There are a reason why those MMOs I’ve listed, still have a thriving PvP scene.
I don’t know about that OPR is popping off all night on my server……
