Cant login Timed out while waiting for server to spawn player

Cannot login with error : Timed out while waiting for server to spawn player

on at least
Castle of Steel US East
El Dorado US West
at and around time of post

EDIT
Tried another exit and relaunch of game client and was able to login to a character on El Dorado that I was not able to prior.

i logged off the El Dorado character and attempted to logon to Castle of Steel and once again received the error: Timed out while waiting for server to spawn player

I immediately exited the game client, re-launched, and then WAS able to login to the Castle of Steel character^ without an error.

Sorry to hear about this login issue.
In order to understand, you have been able to log into different servers but have to close the game client in order to be able to switch?

That seems to be the case. My time was up this morning so I haven’t tried since. but yeah it seemed I had to relaunch the game client to log into a different character.

I’m in a unique situation as I have two characters on Castle of Steel due to merges.

At times when I attempt to switch from one castle of steel character to the other immediately/ or quickly I have issues logging in the second character. Usually subsequent attempts to log in will let me log into the second character.

Today tho I got the described error in my post and could not advance past the error in subsequent attempts

So I switch to the El Dorado server and tried to logon a character on that server. Which resulted in the same error “timed out trying to spawn character”

–And that’s what prompted my posting.

At first I just attributed it to my unique two characters/one server situation, but when it persisted on El Dorado where I only have one character, I felt that maybe something else is happening meriting my post.

Later today I will be free to log on again and I can test it out do some switching see if it’s persisting, and update the thread on the forums or update this email thread --whatever you prefer really.

I see. Well you shouldn’t be able to have more than one character per server.
Might be the origin of the issue.
How about you do some testing so we can gather more info.
As soon as you brief me Im going to file a report, let devs know about this and see what they recommend.

Hey again

Yeah I would not be surprised if the two characters, one server thing is a contributing factor. But in lieu of all the merges of servers I know I’m not alone.

–I was just on my character on Us East Castle of Steel, logged off, and tried to log on with another character also on castle of steel, and could not/was able to reproduce the error.

I click play, it hangs at loading, and I cannot escape out of it. I have to wait it out until it fails with the error . “Connection Error. Timed out while waiting for server to spawn the player.”

I then acknowledged the error, and attempted to log in again with the same result/error.

I then switched servers to US West El Dorado to attempt to log in and could not once again /able to reproduce the problem with the same error:
“Connection Error. Timed out while waiting for server to spawn the player.” I then tried once again and was still unable to log in.

I then attempted to go back to US East Castle of Steel and login, and once again was not able to log in with the error “Connection Error. Timed out while waiting for server to spawn the player.” i tried a few more times without success/same result.

I then closed and reopened the game client and then was immediately able to login on castle of steel without incident.

I then logged out.

This time I did not attempt to login with my other character on Castle of Steel, but instead immediately switched servers to US West El Dorado and tried to log in, and was not able to once again with the error. “Connection Error. Timed out while waiting for server to spawn the player.”

–My theory was attempting to go from one castle of steel character to the other was starting my problem. However this time I went from logged onto one character on Castle of Steel to attempt to login on one character on El Dorado, and still was able to reproduce the issue with the same " unable to spawn the player error."

For one final test I closed and reopened the game client and logged in on El dorado without incident.

This time when I logged off that character on El Dorado I let the game client sit at the lobby for a few minutes(thinking giving more time would maybe yield a different result).

After a few minutes I then attempted to log on to US East Castle of Steel and unfortunately once again was not able to. Once again with the error “Connection Error. Timed out while waiting for server to spawn the player.”

So in summation it seems I just simply can’t switch characters without closing and reopening the game client TODAY.

I say today because last night after the patch I was not having this problem the few times I switched characters. (Was there some patching last night? I thought so, maybe that is contributing).

I know that’s a lot. thanks for your time. I’m glad there’s a work around for me of closing and reopening the client. But perhaps the devs will want to investigate.

verified integrity of game files and last evening was able to log in and out as normal

I am having this same issue. It seem to be an issue switching from one region to the other. I also have a toon on el dorado and another one on maramma. If I log into the one on el dorado then go to switch to maramma it gives me the error and I have to completely quit game to log into maramma toon. My game has to be on the us east region when quitting for it to log in, or vice versa. I do NOT have 2 toons on the same server at all. I do have a baby toon on pluto and my maramma toon and it will let me switch without issue between these two.

its for all characters. it just infinitely loads trying to login at the character screen. eventually saying “Timed out while waiting for server to spawn the player.” caused by logging out of one character and then trying to login to another, doesnt matter if other characters are different server/different regions. if you wait to get that Timed out message. then try to login it will load you in but it takes a few minutes and is rather annoying.

Meanwhile, Zombies confirms running an integrity check let’s you log in without issues. Use it while we figure this out.

for me personally It has been better after verifying files, but it has popped up once or twice.

In truth at times I just quit out instead of log out now to avoid the wait/problem

Encountered the issue just now again. So it is persisting.

I work in IS and problem solve full time and this is completely just my gut talking and maybe very off the mark, but it seems to be less of an issue during peak/“prime time” hours in my estimation.

So my uninformed wacky theory is that due the current state of the concurrent player count (in comparison to what it was previously) perhaps there has been a change with available allocated resources for the failing task(s) in question? or a change made somewhere? Again just a “from the hip” uninformed guess based on my gut. Mind you this is the same gut that tells me to eat cheesburgers 3x a day so take it with a grain of salt.

Me and my friends have the same problem: cant swapping characters
