nothing help , cant change prio . what to do ?

Hello @crimsonwtf ,

Hope you’re doing well.

Is it particularly for New world? Have you tried checking if you are able to set other Apps/games on priority?

Let me know

Yes i can change the priority on everything else , without a problem , i tried just before i wrote .
sorry forgot to include that .

Okay, I see you have tried allowing the permissions which didn’t work either.

There’s a Quickfix which we can try and see if it fixes our issue.

I want you to restart the system in Safe mode once, then try setting the priority, it generally works.

After the priority is set, simply reboot the pc in regular mode. The priority should remain the same.

To run in safe mode, search MsConfig > Boot > Safe boot and try if it works.

Let me know.

Well it worked and it didnt . I run it in safe mode with networking .
but still could not start the game to change the priority in task m .
because the (east-anti -cheat) thing cant start in safe mode .
But you can run a the launcher on steam , until you get to that error .
then open the exe in game files and get to the first splash screen , before you get the 2nd error .

Which was enough for it to show up in task manager and i did change the priority it worked .
but after restarting back into normal windows mode . the change reverted and access is denied
returned . on top of that steam_appid.txt file got messed up . so i could not start the game at all
i deleted the file . and it made a new one . so now the game works . but the priority is not fixed.
(still error when trying to change)

Could this be a windows registry problem , or some corrupted windows files that work with
permissions? is there anything else easy i could try ? (besides a clean install of windows , that is not worth it )

(what bugs me the most its only on new world , other games and apps without exception let me do it )

Oh, thanks for the detailed explanation.

This is unusual, also the priority changing back to normal should not happen. There could be multiple reasons behind this and I won’t recommend a clean install either.

The best way to get clear instructions on this is by raising a ticket to the developers for this.

They’ll be able to respond with the exact troubleshooting required for this.

I would request you to contact customer support so they can raise a separate ticket to the developers for your issue.

Contact them by visiting : New World - Support | Amazon Games

I would also recommend you to share the link for this forum post so you do not have to explain the whole scenario to the representative.

Be sure to have your game logs ready in case they ask for them:

Instructions for finding the in-game logs:

  1. Press Windows+R on the keyboard, type %appdata% and press enter.
  2. Open the most recent file from this folder: /AppData/local/AGS/LogBackups.
  3. Paste the contents of the file into your message

Instructions for generating a DXdiag (System logs) : Open and run DxDiag.exe

Once we have the complete details including logs, we’ll be able to figure out the root cause and the solution as well.

Have a cheerful day!

Update : i think i found a way .

EAC prevents the process from being changed normally. You need to use RegEdit to tell Windows to always initialize that .exe with an increased priority in order to do it.

Open the Registry Editor by typing “regedit” (no quotes) into the Windows search bar;

  • Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options
  • Right click on this folder and create a new key called “NewWorld.exe” (no quotes)
  • Right click on the new NewWorld.exe folder and. create a key called “PerfOptions” (no quotes)
  • Right click on the new PerfOptions folder and create a new DWORD (32 bit) called “CpuPriorityClass” (no quotes)
  • Double click on CpuPriorityClass in the value window change the value to 3

is this alright to do ?

and it does make sense since i could do it in safe mode when EAC was not on . and in normal mode its on . that could be the thing preventing it . (the easy anti cheat)
(and maybe it changed back to normal coz the easy anti cheat forces it to be on normal or something like that) ?

I actually tried doing in my PC to check, I was actually able to do so in regular mode and I didn’t actually changed anything. Most of the settings are default. It could be a specific case.

The resolution you found is quite clever and apparently looks safe, however I wouldn’t recommend doing that without a confirmation from developers. I do not want to provide wrong or incomplete resolution.

There could be a chance that EAC is actually not letting you do it for one or the other reason which we need to find out.

I recommend you to let devs take a look first.

alright , thank you for your time and trying to figure this out with me .
i will hop on to the live chat a bit later . to try to resolve this .

Have good day (night) . depending where you are XD.
