For the stuff that is crafted it makes sense: you pick the type of gem, then basically put stuff around it. You cannot swap gemstones without destroying part of the stuff holding it in place.
However, clearly, it was intended for you to be able to place a gem into an old jewellery slot (maybe only once and you’re stuck with your choice). This would’ve been fine though.
Guess its just a wait until they fix it now that it is acknowledged.
I am having the same issue, Just got the drop yesterday and I can not put any Gem into it. Will this be fixed or not? You are still dropping a ring that is broken. That is just crazy, fix it or take it out of the game.

BUMP : My dumb butt didnt know this bug was a thing and just purchased a GS600 legendary old ring for 10k and cant put a gem in it. Feelzbadman
Almost a month, still no fix. With mutations coming out soon. I wonder how many new bugs are going to come out and old bugs like this will be set aside. Why are devs focusing on the quantity of content rather than the quality of it. Makes no sense. Releasing new content will not bring back your player base. Fixing and improving the quality of the game will. I guess you will learn that when the game gets shut down because of your incompetence.

Well, here is an example of little to no QA/QC. Did no one even test this?
How does this get released to live? And on top of that, being confused whether or not this is intentional. Obviously it’s a bug since the item itself says it’s “an empty socket for a gem” just like pieces of equipment that take gems.
But as I’ve said before, they’ve disabled the ability to put gems into jewelry after the jewelry item is created (not sure if it’s been this way since launch but definitely for most of release). It should be a relatively easy fix (because they should be able remove the “disable”)… but as everything around here, apparently “hard to fix”.
** just remembered why it’s hard to fix, because jewelry in game that drop or crafted with gems CANNOT accept new gems and that’s why it’s disabled, but if they enable accepting gems then existing jewelry could have their gems replaced and I guess they don’t want it. So they just released it broken and decided that maybe no one would notice.
