Can't transfer "timeout steam overlay"

When trying to buy a character transfer I am getting the following:

“Transaction timed out. Please ensure Steam Overlay is enabled.”

Problem is Overlay IS enabled. I have deleted the AGS folders in AppData, verified files, been logged out and in multiple times and tried from various shrines. Still no luck.

Also checked Can't enable steam overlay but that isn’t the same issue I am seeing.

Edit: Closing Steam completely and re-opening then starting NW again did NOT fix it either.

I am sorry to hear that you’re having issues while purchasing the character transfer, a quick note you can disable steam overlay individually for each game. Check under the steam library, and right click New World → Properties → General, check that the steam overlay is enabled there also.
