Gear is not being lowered to expertise GS yet. I don’t like expertise system but the full implementation doesn’t happen until the next patch.
I have a question, I can’t tell if only gear you crafted for yourself is grandfathered, or all gear you have bound?
As far as gear and PvP, it always matters though there is some scaling. I think they change it next patch, though not exactly sure how it will work from their description. Perks are very important for some weapons/builds, pieces over 570 with the right perk are solid in PvP IMO. Voidbent is not ‘best’, legendary with a useful perk other than luck is the ultimate goal. (I am so far from that, haha. Gearing up takes a lot in NW and I doubt many will stick around to do it.)
I’m still waiting for “crafted gear will be the best gear”. Until then, I guess I’ll enjoy using my IG with strength and LS perk.

The “Effective Gear Score (EGS)” downscaling component of the expertise system has not been implemted. In other words, as of today if you have a piece of gear at 600 and your expertise for that slot is 500 that piece of gear is still functioning as a 600. None of your gear has been downscaled yet.
The expertise system is not the issue, @maddinii
When it does go live, any gear you bought/crafted prior to EGS downscaling being implemented will be grandfathered and still function at its actual gear score.

Expertise scaling isn’t even in the game yet, while you’ve been away for weeks most of us having been grinding trying to get bis gear. I’m not judging you for stepping away from the game but a lot of us still play this game hard-core and perks are king in pvp
