Please stop asking for reproducable steps in the forum bug reports. Please also both make it a hard rule that showing people how to use exploits will result in bans, AND also actually give out bans. It’s no secret that there are a ton of bugs and will be for the near future. I appreciate that in the chaos you guys have been fairly quick at addressing a bunch. But if these massive exploits weren’t detailed in forum posts and you actually banned the “content providers” making how-to videos, the problems wouldn’t be as severe.
These are simple and quick changes you can apply now. Anyone with exploits should just be DMing mods on forums anyway, it’s fine to make a thread to draw attention to a bug, but there’s ZERO reason to lay out the details of how to reproduce it in public view.
Not at all saying hide it, post it, make noise so it gets fixed, but the dozens of how-to videos and step by step instructions on how to reproduce it in the forums just makes it more prolific. There’s no reason for that.
Repro steps are essential to reporting issues for all software, both internally and externally, except for those issues whose steps are obvious. This information helps testers and developers alike. I appreciate that you are concerned this information can also help cheaters, but information about reproducing exploits would spread regardless of whether this forum even existed.
Of course it’ll still spread, but making this kind of change would hopefully slow it down quite a bit. If the mess isn’t as gigantic for the devs to clean up afterwards, hopefully that frees up more of their resources to plug away at their already very long to-do list. If 50 people exploit a dupe, I’d imagine that’s easier to clean up than 5000.
