Changes which are needed to keep players playing

I think that mounts are not needed at all. I would prefer they don’t ever get added actually.

No mounts makes the world larger, and have more opportunities for PVP interactions. The world itself needs to stay alive, and I don’t think we should have ways to bypass it.

Keep the world alive and interesting and then travel times will not be an issue.

There are Lore reasons why mounts are not a thing. See “The Animals Revolt” in the Tales Of Aeternum section of documents.

Yes, and there also can be lore reasons why they can be a thing again. Nothing in a game is set in stone.

And there are boars, why cant you tame one…

Boars, elks, wolves, bears… and i am sure AGS also could add horses and donkeys and later on camels in the desert regions.

All these could be mounts you tame. And level.

If you want to play with mounts => go and and play World of Warcraft. Mounts are definitely not needed in Aeternum

Don’t respond to threads if you’re too dumb to explain your own perspective lol

I think the last thing the game needs is mounts. It’s annoying in other games having everyone afk in cities on mounts sitting on top of NPC’s you want to talk yo. Now you have players running from storage to crafting tables, imagine if all those people standing in front of the trading post were on fat mounts blocking up the whole thing. Yuk. All the pathways would be full of mounts. It would really ruin the aesthetic and atmosphere of the game. With fast travel points I don’t think the game needs them.

Solution: No mounts in cities. No mounts while pvp is enabled.

Problems solved. Next.

I 2nd this!

This is actually a good idea. Black Desert (sorry to mention another game), has this facility that allows you to pay a fee and a carriage will take your items from one town to another.

I just want to add my voice to the conversation and say that I do not think that mounts are necessary. I personally really enjoy walking through the world and I don’t feel that mounts add anything to this game. I would appreciate a sprint but I can even live without that. The game is so pretty I love just to look around. I do like @pillepalle 's idea of mounts that can die and having to tame another. I think that could add to this games atmosphere in a way that feels on brand for this game. However, I do not believe it to be a necessary change.

I’m now lvl 30 and only have the Azoth Staff Tier 1, I haven’t done amrine. I’m not going to bother shouting in chat for LFG like some caveman neanderthal.

I’m sure AGS is seeing the analytics roll in that there are more players not bothering with the main story anymore once they hit that Amrine requirement. Majority of players do not want to shout in chat for group. So many other games to play where that is no longer needed.

No no and nope!

Every point you made has brought previous games in such a sorry state that the most prominent of them had to re-release a 15 years-old iteration of itself in order to survive.

The game has this rules and players should learn how to play and not just demand for the game to adapt to the most easy possible way. I’m saying this as some1 who works and plays with ppl with work/family etc. If you dumb down the game then it loses its charm and you don’t get any feeling of accomplishment because everything is made for every1.

Mounts never had brought any game into a “sorry state”, that is quite pathetic. Also public dungeons instead of closed dungeons never stopped a game from working for anyone.

The rules of the game should fit to its players and its playstyles, and traditionally, MMORPGs have a large solo player audience. Based on that, all major questing content should be available to solo players as well. Having no dynamic matchmaking or any kind of dungeon grouping tool and in general a premade group requirement to even succeed in the main quest line is neither very accessible nor really including all players.

Past also shows those players will not adapt but leave. People do not adapt to brick walls but retreat.

  1. No, not gonna bother writing this again, theres has been many reasons across why that is, but the simplest is that the devs/NW has said there won’t be mounts until the map is much bigger.
    – use azoth to transport, if you are running low do some corruption events you gain it pretty quick.
  2. The dungeons, if this is what you are saying, is not really difficult if you take it at the recommended level. We ran Armine at lvl 18, 7 levels under recommended and failed only the last boss, and did it easy at lvl 23, and it was a breeze at lvl 25.
  3. There are some open dungeons around the world, but the closed dungeons like Armine are a lot more fun and interesting, because they can have the puzzle like sections and unique bosses with extra skills
  • This is an MMO its not a solo game, and it is impossible to get the full experience out of this game as a solo.
  • The in game chat is legit 24/7 looking for people to run one of the dungeons, its quite straightforward to find a group. If not just join a guild and ask some to come help, its pretty good exp for everyone involved and there’s a repeatable quest for the other users that gives a solid amount of exp. Someone in our guild yesterday just got to the quest and asked for help, and there was instantly like 10 people up to run it with them ranging in levels 23 - 35.

Let me correct you:

Making travel easier than intended has made things worse, just look at flying mounts in WoW.

About dungeons making them easier so that it fits whatever group composition would be a massive cut to the level of accomplishment from completing them. Ppl who do that in group would have had the same result but in an easier way by going alone because said dungeon would need to be doable even with only 2 weapons combination instead of 10.

Also the reason specifically WoW crumbled in the long run is exactly because it turned away from its identity to follow what the whiners wanted. Good games are the ones where you need to learn how to do stuff and not just have them easier so every1 can do them at whatever pace or commitment and effort put. It doesn’t even mean that it should be a place for tryhards but turning it int an easier version without even a month of life is just dumb.

Honestly I’d have ppl with this mindset leave, they are a minority that doesn’t want a good game they want to boost their sorry ego that gets hurt by not being able to do stuff after they learned the basic commands. As stated by others: there is already plenty of games like this.

  1. Mounts are not needed. There are enough fast travel spots around the map and Azoth is very easy to acquire, I keep reaching my cap and am forced to use fast travel to use some of it. I would for sure like to see maybe a sprint using a potion or something like that but not now. Maybe wait until the map is expanded.

  2. This is an MMO, you are meant to interact with other people from time to time. Can’t make a MMO dedicated to only solo players. If that is what you want go play The Witcher or something like that. Plenty of RPG games on Steam to buy.

  3. Just open chat and start asking for a group or create a group yourself, it’s not hard to do. In dungeons you need a tank and healer, your idea would be for multiple DPS to walk in and get destroyed. Also this is something WOW did with group finder and that was/is a mess.
