Character creation temporarily disabled because world is full?

I have a buddy who just got the game and he cant make a character on the same server as me? There are only 3 servers in west and that means I have to transfer now or what?

We’re not sure why there’s a server lock to be honest. I’m EU and the servers are currently 50% full/empty, yet there locked. I’m in a similar boat and can’t creat a character because I’ve a character on the Zeta world and u able to roll another of the same world (different server). There seems to be a complete radio silence from them regarding this. The mind boggles! A well run service should have customers ignorant to any setbacks, yet this seems extremely intrusive and the silence feels deafening. It certainly highlights the value they put on their player base imho. :frowning:

It means your buddy has to wait until the server is unlocked or yes, you can transfer to join him on a different server.

AGS merged dozens of servers in the last year down into the servers you see today. Each server has somewhere in the neighborhood of 30-45k potential characters on them and a concurrent cap of only 2500 players.

Brimestone Sands is turning out to have a massive appeal to both new and returning players. Many servers had queues to login since the summer update and it is bound to get worse. AGS is attempting to ensure that queues don’t become debilitating.

We know from many other game updates in many games that players return in droves for major updates and expansions. This update is the biggest that this game has ever seen and there is an expected tidal wave of players that will be coming in the next week.

They released a heat map recently explaining which servers they expect to have issues in the coming days

They announced awhile back that we shouldn’t expect the locked servers to be unlocked as soon as we have seen them in the past. I blieve we will probably not see them start to unlock servers until after queus tone down sometime after Tuesday. Likely not until after Nov 2nd would be my personal guess.

I just had a buddy make a character there 3 days ago…really odd to me that there are so few servers and some are “Full” might as well have him refund that damn game then.

Well if everyone hadn’t spent so much energy complaining about wanting “Capacity” servers AGS wouldn’t of merged us during the summer and we wouldn’t be in this predicament. Right now however, I believe they are acting in the best interest of us all and I support them in what they are doing. I advocated against the mergers and I currently advocate against unlocking servers before the queues settle down after Tuesday. Hopefully, we will see them actively open new servers quickly as queues start to form. I wouldn’t be surprised if we dont see queues this weekend.

Photo taken just now. Not a single full server and no queues. :frowning:

Yeah so they “think” there will be an uptick in players coming so they are locking servers now for even new players…what an absolute joke of a company. I might as well have him refund and call it a day.

Sure it sucks, but it was the smart thing for AGS to do. In fact, the locks should have happened sooner to US West, but better later than never. Both El D and Ygg were pretty much at cap 2 weeks ago.

It’s better to keep the servers locked and see how the Brimstone update plays out next week, than to keep servers open and then scramble to get new servers rolling for excess players. Either returning players will fill up the locked servers or servers won’t get much increase and they will open them up.

The server transfer option is a possible solution for you. If you’ve played before I think June/July this year, you should have 2 free server transfers for yourself, provided you haven’t already used them. Sure it’s not the ideal solution, but it is a possible one.

With that being said, AGS does need to get better with communicating server locks, to avoid confusion in the future.

They gave 1 free in nov and the other was temporary in feb, and then there was another if you didnt play for 4+ months recently. The temporary/feb one im not sure, but I never used it and dont have it anymore.

Ygg and El D have been locked for nearly 2 weeks. Move to Aukumea and have him create characters there.

How fast do you think that server would fill up? I dont want to be sitting there on a dead ass server in two weeks regretting the transfer.

Honestly it’s hard to say until launch week happens. Either the update will bring in a huge amount of players or there won’t be much increase. If servers do fill up to cap, it will probably be like 2-3 weeks till pops start to drop. AGS put out a “heat map” about potential server queues on servers. Last night at peak hour, Ygg was @ 1962, El D @ 1650 and Auku @ 918.

If the West servers do fill up, Ygg will def be locked for at least 2-3 weeks. El D most likely for the same time frame. Auku will probably fill up too. AGS is monitoring the servers and will lock/open/create servers based on the data they get next week.

This means absolutely nothing. Those numbers are CONCURRENT players right now. Not the number of accounts with characters on the server whom MAY decided to attempt to play on Tuesday when the game launches it’s biggest update ever.

It’s not about a server being max concurrent population during off peak hours it’s about it reaching a que ever during any 24 hour cycle. If you played during the summer after the merges you know some servers were at close to if not at max for 80% of the day.

It will be worse come Tuesday if things go as expected by most players.

Well this is EU peak time and none are close to full. Also, why create a definite issue now to save a possible one later? I deleted my character coming back into the game to reroll and get used to it again. I can no longer play with my friends on Nysa as a result… it’s causing more issues than it’s solving or attempting to predict to solve.

Edit: so I am experiencing the exact issue that you’re telling me they’re trying to prevent. In in a permanent queue to the server I need to play on with my IRL friends…

It’s not a possible one, it’s a guaranteed one. We’ve already seen the problem, we’ve already had queues during the summer. Just because some people want to ignore the mass of the iceberg hiding under the water doesn’t mean it isn’t there. I would way more rather a few folks be put out and not get to play for a bit with who they want to play than everyone be stuck in queues for hours on end next week.

In my opinion the best solution would be to off load every single person who hasn’t played in the last 60 days and force them to server transfer of these merged servers and keep the current servers locked until after all that mess resolves itself.

The problem right now are the people who left and are coming back not the protections in place to protect those of us that stayed.

Yes its fucked up tbh, i dont understand it. Sometimes im wondering if AGS wants people to give up and quit. Have alot of friends that left the game after their ”return” since they cant play with each other. This should be taken very seriously by AGS, but they are just dead silent about it for unknown reason.

They can play together - transfer to an open server together. When that server fills up AGS will open a new one. The whole - transfer mechanic is intended. Their going to keep these servers locked until people decentralize form the servers that are locked OR its shown that the inactive accounts aren’t coming back. It’s common sense. Wait for it to unlock or transfer - these folks have options.

So you mean entire companies should transfer to a server that is open to be able to play with 3-4 more friends? Totally makes sense.

same issue here, can you unlock orofena so my friends can join my server? they literally bought the game and we cant play on the same server, sadge.

No i mean those 3-4 people should understand their desires don’t trump the experience of the thousands of players already on that particular server. The needs of the many out weight the needs of the few or the one.

Everyone who cried about mergers are to blame not AGS, now AGS is protecting those people who argued against mergers to the deaf ears of the players screaming for them. This is their make good for those of us who already have been negatively impacted by the merges.

It sucks to be in the position some folks are in but the greater good here is to be patient and wait or if it really matters that much transfer to be with them. If your not willing to transfer then clearly it doesn’t matter that much to you.

Lastly, I do think AGS should have issued another round of free transfer tokens to everyone with an active account prior to the last round of merges. The requirement that people would now have to pay to transfer does leave a sour taste in my mouth.
