Character stuck locked facing one direction after talking to NPC

• (if a bug) How did the issue effect your gameplay: My character is stuck when accepting new quests and have to log out to then have just the camera stuck instead. This is basically making the game unplayable

• What are the steps to reproduce the issue as you experienced: I have my interact bind set to a wheel so it must have been too fast for the game to keep up. So interact with an npc very quickly until the dialog options disappear but the character is still zoomed in and stuck.

this is a common direct x issue which stems from Alt-tabbing. Alt is freelook in this game, and when you alt-tab the game thinks it’s holding the alt action down, causeing you to face 1 direction and making movement disorienting). simply learn to use windows-tab instead. to fix just alt tab back out and back in again…

Using the unstuck feature means I can move my character but my camera angle is now locked onto the same npc

I tried alt tab back out and back in again but that didn’t work. I logged into my other character and noticed that it’s camera view was also locked. So I restarted my computer and opened up New World to find the camera working normally again.

another idea i saw other say ingame was to just talk to another npc other than the 1 it’s locked onto

This exact same thing happened to me (stuck talking to the faction NPC).

Backing up to the town board and handing in a completed quest unlocked it for me!

This didn’t work for me (for future reference:)
-Talking to another NPC
-Using a crafting station
-Fast Travel to another region

This is still an issue after a week.

I can confirm for fixing the camera, just simply talk to another NPC.

Today it happened again for me after the recent restart of Annwyn server.
At Shattered Mountains Covenant Faction NPC. Every time i try to get new set of quest, it stuck me. The window of the quests never pop up.

Unstuck feature also doesn’t work. I have to relog or completely quit the game and get back in again.

And once i am done that, the NPC never pops up the quest window. Its a constant stuck when you try to get quest from that NPC. i tried more than 20 times - same result.

I am having this issue constantly now. Unstuck will work, but then of course, the next NPC I talk to I’m stuck again and unstuck is still on cooldown. I can log-out which will fix it for a time also. Very frustrating, after having JUST gotten past the ice pylon bug that was ruining the game…
