Charge for the GA shouldn't be cancelled by other players

So many times in OPR or open world PVP, I’ll use charge as it goes 1m because it hits the side of an ally or something, negating the entire ability. Is the purpose of charge that it can only be used when I’ve got a completely free path ahead of me? If I’m trying to use it as an escape, I can screwed over by hitting an ally and it cancels the ability early. I believe the reasoning around why charge works the way it does, as opposed to Fleche or Burnout, is that the point that it damages someone is at the end of the charge, rather than throughout the abilities animation. But why not just make it a click to attack function instead?
