Charged Heavy Attack based on Weapon TYPE - EXPANSION

Theres a lot of dept already in the game, but sometimes more dept is welcomed, maybe this is one of those times.

So we (some people) were having a discution on hitstun (stagger), dont jump on me just yet, I’m part of the people that thought it was bad in the form it was over 1 year ago, but a compromise can always be reached that moves the combat in the game forward.

What is the suggestion:
Adding special effects on heavy attack for weapons based on their properties, and adding a charging mechanic to the heavy attacks. OFC there might be technical limitations to this… and we can see what those are, and why this might be a bad idea.

Weapons would be able to “charge” for a said duration (up to the balance team) heavy attacks and if they connect they would apply extra effects.

How would this work:
BLUNT Weapons
[like 2handed Hammer, 2handed maces (future?), 1handed hammers(future?), 1handed mace (future?]
Would apply HITSTUN (stagger), 2handed weapons would require longer charging and apply the effect for longer, while 1handed weapons would require less and apply it for less.

SLASH Weapons
[bladed weapons in general, sword, greatsword, axe so on]
Would apply BLEED, same principle as before.

Ranged WEAPON (not forgotten)
Would require longer charging like 2seconds since range gives a serious advantage.
Magical weapons, would apply HITSTUN.
Piercing weapons, would apply BLEED.

Expected:
HITSTUN could be applied for 0.1 to 0.5s.
BLEED could be applied for 2-5seconds.

OFC No effect would be applied to someone under, iframe, block or grit.

SO what do u think?

This partly is a good idea, but all heavy attacks should stagger. The amount of stagger can differ regarding the weight of the weapon. I really hope you guys are doing this, Treviz. You can believe me if I say, it will do your game good and your success will rise with being more consistent and patient instead of ruining the game by holding on to cheap market ideas that are orienting on typical mmos.

The team had awesome ideas that would ve worked with giving it more time. Look at Elden Ring. You can still focus on PVE but the combat has to be good. And it was good before you changed direction in a less good and inconsistent way!

Don’t be too greedy…
