Chest runs made my wife and I quit last year. Same shit every day at a rather inconvenient time (guild picked it) - I like the recent changes cos it means I never have to race to do one again - there are several other options now to upgrade. I don’t mind joining in a chest run if I am there when it’s soon to leave - can be fun! There’s always those few numpties who don’t kill anything and run for the nodes / chests but meh. Note the names and add em to ignore… move on
Oh, and why people want more? … some of us really don’t do the pvp thing often

mats are dirt cheap, i got 2 scarab from 4 hours at least 200 chest or so.
all profit was less then opr .
i need very specific gear which will never drop.
i dont do them any more .
i did way better when farming stuff .
Who said you cannot do it? Just get yourself a healer and a tank and go on my friend. Enjoy killing the elites and waste time for no purpose.
All the valuable things from those runs are the named item drops from specific bosses, where ppl prefer to kill them as fast as possible, and the trophy mats from chests. Thats all there is to it.
If you want to go with ur group alone, go ahead. Nobody stops you.
Chest runs are made so ppl dont waste unecessary time on unnecessary things.

Get trophies.
Get golden
Get town buff
Get crafting gear
Get food buff
And now you craft 37 items and the chance is 16% to get a legendary and it’s not even sure it’s a BIS the. U craft 37 and 2 of them may be a legendary
But total useless
Dont forget that Chest Run was created by Players, Devs never intended to creat this game mechanik, but they are happy the way players turned those chest hunt into big headless chiken run trains.
So people do chest run cuz this in one of the most eficient way to get stuff/gold/expertise bump.
I’m starting to think people don’t understand or believe being in PVP gives 10% global luck. It’s big. It doesn’t say in the tooltip in game for some reason…
Somewhere along the way the playerbase took over the failure of AGS and created this zerg train as a fix to stupid gameplay design. Then what made this whole thing worse is AGS are like “oh shiiit… that saved us a bunch of thinking time to fix it… play on”
Everytime ECR is done each day is 1x deposit of hate debt banked in the AGS “Reasons to quit the game” bank vault.
Its a lazy design fix made by players and it needs to be re-routed completely. Nobody enjoys spending 2-3hrs a day running around on a zerg hoping to stay ahead of the pack long enough to get some kind of lottery “i got a tag on the boss for the kill” dmg system, to then get crappy loot from either boss or elite chests.
Its broken. Its boring. Its soul crushing and makes me remember how badly AGS screwed up the launch and never followed through with the fixes.
As for PVP luck. I’m pretty sure when they fired the UX/UI person who first worked on the game, has the headcount still open…that or the UI team are on some kind of weird holiday…as if they think this UI is in anyway close to being informative… they must be playing a different game to the rest of us.
Nobody is going to run Elite Chests when there are organized PUG groups of 100+ people just zerging the chests and clearing an entire elite area in 15min.
That content should have been Phase Instance based 10man raids, but the devs are smooth brains and screwed that up at launch. Now that everyone is so accustom to doing these, changing it would end up with massive backlash from casuals who don’t want to actually play the game, but just want free shit.
The reason people DO THESE, is because many people don’t like 3v3 or OPR and would rather get there 7 or so orbs in a more direct way that is simple and requires no effort.
The entire focus on this games progression is flawed at its core, and every system they add after is a system that hopes to remedy it in some way… but in reality they just compound how crappy the entire experience of gear progression is in this game.
I dunno… i dont find we all sit around a campfire in game sharing PVP/PVE stories… its pretty much “be here in 5mins we’re about to zerg chests” and you get there in 3mins only to find that the train left 2mins ago because 2-3 players broke the front lines and the herd reacted.
Then when you become the guy who helps the dps takedown on the boss, get 1-shotted by thorpe…you’re dead… about 10 player step over your corpse to get to the chest and eventually 1-2 kind souls will stop to revive you.
All i am saying…is i don’t get the warm and fuzzies with ECR… its more of a simulation of what would happen if power went out in large cities and apocalypse kicked off.
Imo because they’re not smart enough to build their own opinion and don’t realize chest runs are a waste of time. Or, that they just want free rewards without fighting for them, no matter how low they are.
