Christmas Update! tis the season!

I initially saw the Christmas patch and went straight to the forums and global chat hoping to share with peoples excitement on Christmas content coming. instead I find so much negative content about everything else wrong with the game, and how the devs new ideas are bad …? like what?! a good bit of advice. there is a lot going wrong with the world, but if you want to be happy/content, focus more on what’s going right!

I am a player in smaller server, with a company of about 10 or so active members. I was with the game since launch and I have enjoyed it since then, yes the bugs have been frustrating, and certain balance patch’s weren’t great for for me. but with these updates I think the dev team has been doing a great job. I have noticed many things that they have implemented, that show great insight and passion. having done some development myself ( and spent much time playing new MMORPGs) , I can say it is no easy task to bring a game together. the LAST thing you want to do is kill the creative passion of the Developers and give them no appreciation for their work or ideas. this will suck out the soul of a game faster than any player of glitch can.

FIRST OFF! THANK you for a Awesome Christmas event idea! I think this will be fun and exciting for the game. I live about 3,300 miles from my closest family and friends, and during thanksgiving I was feeling a little down. when the giant turkey came rolling in, I had a lot of laughs with my brothers and cousins! we literally just hunted them down all day talking about past thanksgivings and other game events we have played. with this Christmas event coming in, it will allow me to do the same thing for Christmas and I cant WAIT! I know I am not alone when I say, a lot of us enjoy these kind of inspired ideas, and thank you for it!

**my thoughts on the new system-- feel free to ignore them **

on watermark being changed expertise, I think this will be a great system, that will allow us to do, “open world named bosses, expedition bosses, outpost rush, arenas, corrupted breaches, etc” as a way to watermark rather than grinding 60+ elite zone bosses all day, (which most of us have a hard time getting motivated to go do). lowering gear effectiveness will be a set back and for sure I am not thrilled with that, especially because I have crafted almost 3 full sets of void-bent gear for my company. (low pop servers may also have a harder time with this because its hard to form groups, so it would be nice if server merges came with this update, but I can be patient) that being said more open world play will be initiated which will be nice, and it will allow the gear gap to be lessened for those who don’t have the money to get the 600gs stuff, and make the gear progression more realistic after 60. all in all I think its good for the overall player base, even if personally it is a step back.

the 200 crafting rewards, this will be super nice honestly. putting aside the fact the the expertise system may hurt items you craft initially, it will be a huge benefit for trying different builds. I have really wanted to try a light musket and fire staff build, but getting the high level armor has been difficult. like wise I have also wanted to try a hammer and bow build, but they are not very compatible so testing it out will be a big waste of money. these new “pattern” rewards and caches (as well as more people getting higher watermark or expertise levels) will allow greater crafting and acquiring opportunities, in my opinion, for a different types of high level gear. maybe even reducing prices of 600gs items on the TP to allow greater fixability in players trying new things, maybe giving us some cool new builds( I do believe we as players can find more effective combinations for wars, invasions, and pve/pvp in general, than everyone running a great axe, fire staff, or life staff. and I guess now void gauntlet.)

it has been to much of a random bet getting gear you want, and the prices for 600 gs items has been beyond ridiculous. dont get me wrong, a 600gs items like a musket, with 30 dex, vicious, and enchanted being sold for 20k-40k, is very respectable, and worth its wage. however a 600gs light piece with random perks that are not even useful being sold for 5k simply because there isn’t another like it and its 600gs is annoying… more 600gs items on the TP will be good for the majority players. even if it is bad for some player’s wallet. it’ll just balance the market a little making other items worth go up and changing the most expensive items in the game.
