In the Dev Corner post the following statement was made:
At this time we are not offering transfers to players after a world has been merged. This position may change as we learn more.
I’d like some clarification on this if possible, specifically - does this mean that those of us who are still on lower pop servers and have not yet used our free transfer will lose that transfer after the merge, or does it simply mean that people who have already used their free transfer will not receive another one in the event of a server merge? This is important, as people who are waiting out merges may decide they’d rather go ahead and transfer to a high pop rather than roll the dice on merges and lose the opportunity to do so.
What I want to know about these merges is how they’re planning to handle station and fort upgrade reimbursement for companies that lose their territory when the merge happens through no fault of their own.
I’ll use my own company as an example.
We purchased First Light on day 2 and have held it to this day.
We have multiple T5 stations and a well upgraded Fort.
Now in the event the merge happens and my server is designated the world that gets eaten by another, my company gets a measly 50k coin, lose our territory for no good reason and to cap it off, if the company who owns First Light on the merged Server hasn’t upgraded the Smelter or Outfitter to T5 as we have, we just have to deal with our storages being full of material for stations the zone no longer has, again through no fault of our own?
Alternately, if the new merged Server just gains the T5 stations we upgraded, we just have to put up with the fact that all the resources we poured into upgrading these stations (using mostly in-company donations because tax income without TP wealth is not even enough to cover taxes) gets handed to another company for free so they can reap the benefits of massive upgrades to their settlement again at cost to MY company?
If we lost in a War, we could accept the loss of the territory. The enemy fought and defeated us. We could then fight and take it back.
But if the new server gives FL to another purple company, we just … lose. Unless we change faction to take it from them.
It just seems to me that being on the “lesser” server is punishment upon punishment for the crime of having played on a server that lost its population.
The servers who are really screwed over like Xilbaba have over half our territories at t2 because guilds quit paying taxes and paying for upgrades. In addition the Strongest faction yellow has a 200+ man guild on our server owns ever fall and windward, and refuses to care for other territories they take because they plan to transfer off AFTER mergers to ensure anyone left is totally screwed with artificially inflated numbers before mergers.
We will be lucky to have more than 1 T5 crafting station of each type at mergers, so I think EVERYONE on this server hopes another server’s map is chosen.
Oh if you merge with Xilbaba and the map gets chosen… You will see a pretty much all t2 first light lol. So no matter what server you end up with, just hope the map is actually upgraded MANY ARE NOT!!!
Ideally, they should choose the most upgraded server to keep the territories and map. At least I hope. Or mergers are going to be a very sad affair. Those who haven’t experienced this level of toxic burn it all down gameplay are lucky.
