Clunky pvp and combat ---- EDIT: BUFFER WINDOWS THE CULPRIT?

Almost feels like the buffer window is in place to dumb down combat and lower the learning curve. And that’s just a terrible idea. Still doesn’t explain the delay in input from clicking to screen for certain actions.

There are inputs that are stored and execute at the end of an action. But there doesn’t seem to be any real logic behind it.

For example after a ability you try and roll but you get stunned the roll is still queued up and you roll after being stunned. some abilities follow this logic and some don’t

It really hard to explain but it definitely is present they implemented certain things to try and keep people animation canceling with weapon swaps and it made the game even clunkier. From what people are reporting there are now certain mechanics that have a set timer after said action which would exacerbate the issue with combat feeling clunky.

Really to allow people to play the game feeling fluid they need to allow animation cancels as long as the initial animation did go off for example a fireball goes out let me either immediately swap weapons or roll not wait for a timer to go off then swap or roll.

Just to chime in here…

Combat feels much more clunky than it ever has. Weapon swaps are hit or miss, sometimes you have to hit the button like 3 times for it to register.

From a bow/spear user perspective skill usage seems…slow. Like you hit the button and it takes a bit for it to actually register. The heavy draw on the bow is allllll kinds of screwy, and I really DISLIKE the fact that you can’t use certain skills coming out of that stance, or that it cancels skills from firing.

Just overall combat feels the worse it ever has…

This is an extremely backwards change to the developer post about how combat should feel fluid. You are stuck in that slow animation for so long after a light attack from a bow/ig/fs. All of a sudden the game just feels so slow placed.

Combat feels horrid.

The buffering has stupid logic.

Just did a war and while healing, noticed a guy getting into our line so I got close, swapped to VG and tapped scream. Before the scream went off I got knocked back and staggered by a cannon shot. Watched in what felt like slow motion while waiting for my character to regain control, and then the scream went off, almost 1.5 seconds later, after being knocked out of range of the target.

Why wasn’t that interrupted and cancelled? It was a waste of a skill cooldown. I could have dodged back into him and actually made it useful, but no he just runs back to safety while we stand there with our collective thumbs up our butts.

I am glad to see that others are feeling these same problems and changes as myself and seems that everyone that does notice them realize they are not good changes.

I’ve noticed… It’s almost like there’s a touch of lag added, but only tiny… Doesn’t bother me too much as a fire staff/ice gauntlet user that spams in a general direction though

Agree. Not a GA player either, but I just played an OPR, where a med guy just ran circles around 10 people for 5+ minutes. No one could hit him with anything. Whatever they did made it virtually impossible to hit people with normal melee attacks. If someone moves at all, you cannot hit them. Your weapon will swing into their back and nothing registers. It’s absolutely awful.

Pretty much the key to coping seems to be to slow your inputs down and account for an invisible GCD on everything or get lucky.

Yeah it feels super clunky right now. The weapon swap not working is the most frustrating shit ever!

true, it is a combination though of everything. The delay after every abliity, dodge, and every attack is just a terrible addition to this game. They seriously seriously need to revert it and/or heavily work on that.

Bumping this thread . Simply cus this needs to be addressed. I see they are “fixing” canceling animation when rolling light armor. I mean again that’s making the game even more clunky.

AGS idea of making combat more fluid as stated by them…. Absolute fail so far. They are going in the opposite direction! Wake up AGs.

ppl in light armor are 2-4hits so the delay after a dodge is so stupid u cant move or do anything if they ‘fix’ the dodge its impossible to run away why even use the dodge with that delay might as well go heavy gear then

Yup. No1 will run light armor after they “fix” it.

Bufferwindows and getting rid of animation cancels on all weapons is just flat out making the game clunky , slow, and less fun.

they only need to fix the bow animation cancel but if they ‘fix’ the dodge its a death sentence when you dodge on me server 70% are like heavy gear already and 20% in medium sometimes i see OPR matches without seeing a single enemy player in light gear imagine after this ‘fix’ might aswell remove light gear then

Need get rid of these dam buffer windows too.

I completely give up on OPR until they fix these things….especially the weapon swap/ui issue…and people exploiting bugs.

The pvp experience is going worst and worst, and they are just adding more pve content.

I dont known when do you lose focus, this game was supouse to be a PVP but IT IS CLUNKY AND LESS RESPONSIVE.

Let me be clear, for PVP the clunky bug is worst than a gold dupe because we are been killed by non responsive controls.

This is the whole problem. Them trying to get rid of animation cancels is breaking the game.
