Clunky pvp and combat ---- EDIT: BUFFER WINDOWS THE CULPRIT?

Reviving this thread. Why? Because AGS is amplifying the problem.

Bow has 0.33 seconds on delay after shot now. Can’t use stamina to get rid of the delay. Like common for gods sake. What they did for Jump animation cancel on bow, okay that makes sense. But why in the world is there a 0.33 second recovery period that literally allows no ability or dodge to be used to cancel that. Be punished for running out of stamina but should be allowed to expend it to cancel a recovery period! Isn’t that what stamina literally means ?!??!

Next will be dodge recovery not being able to cancel through ability or weapon sheathing. And yeah, lot of people talk that will make light armor be garbage now. But you know what? The truth of the matter is that all armor classes will feel garbage after that. Try to dodge in medium or heavy without weapon sheathing or some form of animation cancel. It feels god awful.

Game is headed in wrong direction in terms of combat. I really hope people see what is happening. Game will seriously be a very very low skill cap and turn-based combat system. Reminds me of when watching the “developer myrkguard” run, when the dev says something along the line of “now it’s your turn to attack, okay and now it’s your turn to block” when fighting a monster.

haha cry bow noob

You realize this is not just for bow im talking about here ? Hatchet already feels clunky since the buffer patch. If they add no cancels on hatchet it will feel absolutely terrible too. All weapons will be worked on for not allowing buffer cancels. Yes you’re right, I used the bow as an example, but it’s not the only weapon with recovery periods and buffers.
I don’t use bow now primarily. I use a large variety of classes. It’s the direction that they are going with combat that upsets me.

dont play hatchet dont care

And again, you realize I’m just trying to give examples right to make the topic more relatable to players. What weapon do you use ?

I use all now except healing staff. They will all feel slower, clunkier, and less fun to use as time progresses in this game because that is the direction the developers want this game going. And I believe that direction is wrong. If you like the direction the devs are going towards then I respect your opinion and it’s good to see both sides of it.

Also, you have already posted a few times to contribute to this topic . Though that was a couple weeks ago. So, don’t rly understand the change in behavior in this topic

I fully agree with the OP. I can’t even explain it very well, but the combat in this game makes me feel like I weigh 400lbs and I’m doing water aerobics, while the expectation is that it would make me feel like I was Simone Biles at the 2016 Olympics

Let’s see if the upcoming patch can fix some of the clunkyness and delays in combat. Won’t hold my breath but does seem some stuff will make it less turn based combat.

Unfortunately, they have repeatedly demonstrated this is the combat they want. I accepted that and moved on weeks ago.
