Yes the game has a LOT of problems, even some problems we saw during 1st beta a year ago…
Loot system is MORE THAN AWEFULL… watermark is probably the worst thing ever (GL HF for trinkets for example) when the funniest part would be to farm, loot a ton of 600 gear to find the “perfect piece” (like in Hack & Slash for example)…
Outpost rush enable / disable / enable / disable, without any maintenance which caused people being stuck in it and even having problems with their char…
Game MAJOR gameplay changes like “AOE not stacking” for example… do they even know “serious guilds” make a roaster list giving builds to people and strategies are worked on?
Other changes that we don’t even know…
People can understand a LOT of things, people that take care of players (guild masters / officers) too, they can even defend the game, BUT:
NO COMMUNICATION makes it worse than anything else!
What we should have but we don’t:
No fix maintenance or annoucements about it, so people can’t setup their day arround it (not everyone can play all day long)
When you take time to report things or give feedbacks, NOT A SINGLE ANSWER (did beta feedback, bug reports… at this point i don’t even think someone read them tbh)
For example: i reported Rifts 65 not being able to be closed, even asked for an answer… nothing for nearly 2 weeks until suddenly a patch came up.
No Roadmap
No statement on things that were working and desactive content: Rifts 65+ that make people unable to farm Dungeons too…, Outpost Rush, Server Transfer, Servers Merge…
Small “hidden” patches that can occur at anytime while you are playing and without any annoucements like “AOE not stacking anymore”
Everybody knows the current exploits, no statement about it neither… like GvG exploits, weapon exploits and so on…
So yeah lets say that ALL THOSE THINGS CAN HAPPEN (even if after 3 games report, Alphas & Betas… the game shouldn’t be like that at all seriously…).
It’s just unacceptable that there’s NO COMMUNICATION AT ALL!!!
Best recipe to fuck up a game entirely:
“no communication + desactivated content + lots of bugs & exploits + random updates made without a single note of what is done”
If at least you were communicating people could know what is happening, what will arrive and could be far more understandable like “we’re working on outpost rush it should be there in 1 week”, “sadly we encounter a big issue it’ll take a bit more time, we’ll tell you when we know more” and such things…
Funniest part is that it would be MORE THAN EASY:
Official Discord for annoucements, updates and so on…
Hire 5 - 10 people that their job is to take care of “forums” (official forum / steam forum) and “discord server”
It’s not like it would be THAT difficult honnestly… at this point it’s just a choice to not communicate at all…
Sadly THIS IS WHY the game will die before anything else…
We understood that you created mecanism to make the game “longer” like watermark so people doesn’t quit, but communication is the best way to make people wait for amelioration instead of trash system that piss everybody off…
Hey there! We’ve seen a lot of posts asking for more communication and I couldn’t agree more. Trevzor, Mugsy, and I have been trying to be more active in the forums recently and we have a few other forms of communications in the works that would address some of your concerns like a bug tracker and a better way to view communications from the team.
For now, I know it’s not the most optimal solution, but we do have a Dev tracker that tracks all Community Manager and Developer responses as well as the Official News section where we post all downtimes, updates, and notices. We also do have an official Discord server where we interact daily as well.
I agree, it’s not enough, especially when we aren’t able to provide the specific information you’re looking for but it’s something we really want to be able to improve going forward.
It’s not a post frequency issue. The problems is that you guys are not informed, so making more posts isn’t solving any issue. You guys can’t get an ETA on a single issue. I challenge you post me a single ETA on absolutely anything.
The truth is that you all were set up to fail. You know know about as much as we do, but are put in the role of community manager.
With all do respect. The copy paste “We hear you and agree” is getting rather tiresome and hard to defend.
I understand you yourself as a community manager do not have the power to make a lot of things happen, however, without some Road Maps and actual full on communication instead of very sparse replies and links to Dev Trackers it is hard to maintain hope for this game.
For example: Void Gauntlet - we were told before launch that it would be “soon after launch”. Since launch not one mention of it or a time table.
Transfers - We should be getting daily updates on the status of these. Even if that status isn’t really great or changed, letting everyone know that is actively being thought about and communicated would be helpful.
Outpost Rush - again, constant updates on this.
Planned down time - y’all set a precedent that patches would be on Wednesdays. Now this certainly doesn’t have to always be the case, however, if you do it 3 weeks in a row people are going to expect it the 4th week and a simple “No downtime/patch this Wednesday” would have saved a lot of issues.
1.0.4 - Everyone believed it would be today (based on the previous 3 weeks). This is again not required to happen, however, the lack of communication is fueling the “AGS doesn’t care or communicate” vibe because fixes everyone was hoping for are not here.
I know the best you can probably do is pass this on up the chain.
We’re actually working on solidifying patch note information and when it’s finalized, we’ll be posting it in our Official News section.
And I get you. I don’t like repeating myself as much as you don’t like hearing me repeat things but a lot of these changes aren’t something that happens overnight. The only thing we can actively do right now is know that you are being heard and that we understand your frustration in communication while internally working on processes to improve communications going forward.
Edit: I just realised I replied to the wrong person and I’m sorry.
What do you expect them to change in such a short time? Just give them a few weeks and let them figure stuff out. They can’t just flick a switch and suddenly provide all information ever asked for on the forums.
Everybody knows the current exploits eh? I don’t and don’t need them to enjoy a game. Feedback does not guarantee a response unless it is a ban on someone, which they go brag about it on Steam.
On a note about the various social media outlets is that a lot of people don’t use them and or want anything to do with them. People might say get with the times but to me they are just another headache. People will then talk about the various cosmetics from those and I guess im SOL and JWF.
These kinds of internal miscomms are an issue, as well. When the misinformation is coming from inside the house, it does not instill confidence from your customer base.
the thing that seems to no be heard is that we are asking for a rough guess of some things like world transfers for instance is it likely to be days, weeks, months as it gives people hope to hold on to and if it is delayed yes people will likely be upset but they would get over that but right now so many people are just leaving the game completely due to the lack of infomation and updates that by the time anything is actually fixed the players will already be long gone.
so its not that noone is active from you team we see that things are being posted but 90% its copy pasted infomation from days before hand or random things like the pumpkin carving thing on twitter but players wont be following your social for that kind of stuff it will be for infomation which for those of us that love the game is just not enough and blanket apology statements are just not good enough at this point without some form of update to whatever the issues are .
I think if you look through my post history I have not only been very patient but also encouraging others to do so. I also did not demand everything now or make any such things. I also did not ask them to respond to every concern ever mentioned.
You are incorrect though, they can “flip a switch” and decide to provide more information. That is something that is certainly capable of being done.
I’m not happy with the way the game is handled, but many things you ask simply aren’t feasible for any developer.
They haven’t even fixed glaring issues yet, saying “hey we gonna add months in three months” would be a complete guess and most likely impossible to achieve. They don’t know when and what things will be fixed.
They didn’t manage to stop the gold duping exploit yet, which is the only reason transfers are currently disabled. What exactly do you want, “hey guys, Josh looked at the code today, did a few tests and seems like the issue remains. See you tomorrow!”. That would get the exact same response from people, cause its useless. same for outpost rush.
I completely agreee on patch timings though, but again, if there isn’t anything meaningful ready to patch…why make an update? perhaps they could at least say “sorry guys, todays scheduled patch will take a little longer”, i don’t really know.
Yeah but you probably know how companys work. Someone somewhere has to be bothered long enough for him to go like ok fine here do as you please but leave me alone x)
When this happens we probably will get more information on stuff.
If they do not have a Road Map at this point in time then I don’t know what they are doing as a game developer (or any software developer for that matter). You have to have a plan of where things are going to go.
Just because they haven’t fixed the current issues (which everyone is aware of) doesn’t mean they don’t still have plans for where things are going.
What kind of nimrod would release a live service game with no road map? No direction on where to take their product? They either have one and aren’t sharing it or they don’t and we should all be very concerned. This games been in development for years, being buggy shouldn’t give them a pass from providing their customers communications regarding their concerns. They knew about these bugs and decided to release anyway. That’s on them.
Another prime example of this is AGS’s combat designer entering the forums claiming “AoE wasn’t changed” when patch 1.0.3 literally fundamentally changed how AoE works (in a very bad way).
They miss-communicate on countless things and evidently do not play their own game.
You’d expect this stuff from a small indie company…
Edit: Apologies for the negative tone. The state of the game is getting to me - time for a break.
It’s honestly painful reading these dev trackers… I’ve been reading these forums since launch day as a lurker. Today I finally logged in specifically to write this comment on this thread, because good lord this is ridiculous. The responses given by the community managers are nothing more than a generic cookie-cutter reply of “hey we hear you, we are working on it and are working on working on working on giving you a timeframe for bugfixes, re enabling disabled features etc” and then someone is like hey, that isn’t really helpful for anyone, and then the CM’s say “sorry, we are ramping up communication by increasing the volume of these generic, nonspecific responses, why are you still asking for communication??” or
“have you seen the dev tracker?”
like dude… obviously were all just people trying to enjoy your companies product, but is it that hard to get any specific information from the department working on the actual issues? the reason everyone on here is continually upset is how disingenuous all of this “communication” feels, and after several weeks of witnessing this from the sidelines I completely agree. Its absurd how long we waited for transfers, only for it to be ripped out from under us before my group could even unite. I came onto these forums for a shred of hope but reading these replies by the CMs is so disheartening… I love this game and just want to be able to play… thanks for your time.
Do you see what the other alternative is?
-Release a roadmap
-Fail to deliver things in said roadmap within the estimated time
-roadmap becomes irrelevant anyways
Thats what happens with a lot of games nowadays, how is that any better?
I’m pretty sure it leans more to this direction, given that this game was completely rushed and its underdeveloped. By this point getting a properly polished game is already a big step forward
Why every other single Company hotfix Major bugs and Amazon in 3 fucking weeks didn’t do anything other than updating the cash shop??
OF COURSE THE CASH SHOP IS THE ONLY THING WITH ZERO PROBLEM FROM DAY 1
