A road map would do wonders for the community so we at least know what direction we are going.
Can they also work smart and not only work hard. Just saying
The pure irony of the title. At this point you really have to win the faith of your customers and player base back. What we’ve seen has been nothing but shambles and the consistent decline shows that not only do we need to know WHAT is being done but WHEN and if we can actually trust that it won’t come out half-baked.
Best of luck and I hope the next AGS launch will be less of a nightmare for everyone’s sake.
Launch was fine, server issues are expected yes but stop hiding behind this shitty ‘every launch had issues’ excuse. This is an mmo released 10 years after every problem was found a solution to. Fucking “steal” the solution of your competition if you aren’t capable of coming up with one as good or better yourself. 75% of these issues should have been fixed from testing and not after release!
Honestly find it ironic how a game released under the name of the biggest online marketplace has the worst AH UI in any mmo I’ve played before.
Psst…
Since we are trying to have a dialogue in here anyway.
Fishing. First gold was removed from chests, then we now can’t see the message when we land in hotspots.
Is this intended or just to combat bots? Is this how you for one (or your colleagues) want fishing to be once AGS has cured/handled the bot symptoms?
Me for one. Think fishing felt more rewarding when chests actually gave some coins, or was more exciting reeling in a TREASURE chest back then.
Or maybe that’s just me. Both these things where unmentioned in the patch notes we have gotten. Maybe you can shed some light on this matter?
Yes i have seen this post.
They just announced they are in talks with overwolf.
While overwolf announced that the minimap is fine to use…
There is a big difference between both announcements.
Exactly this.
8 days ago there was a post by Zaphkiell from customer support that it is NOT ok to use.
4 days ago there was a post by Luxendra from community management that they are talking with overwolf, but not that it is ok to use while they are still talking - although there were lots of people who asked if they can use it and several different threads about it.
If they told overwolf that people will not be banned for it, why didn’t they also tell us?
and the overwolf tweet telling its fine got removed.
why would they remove that statement when its ok?
ppl just read what they wanne read nowadays, they read “are in talks” and think everything is greenlighted.
baffles me how many ppl take unofficial sources over the official amazon sources…
makes no sense…
I wouldn’t trust a word Overwolf says. That company is scum.
Clearly they have more zone in the map to unlock (you can see the map is hidding big part of the north side
Theres also an Expedition entrance behind the big church in Myrkgard, cant interact with it and so it seems like an obvious future expedition or raid of some sort.
Keep it up Mugsy. You’re doing God’s work bubba. We appreciate it!
a Road map would not be a great idea at this point in time IMHO. People are already demanding things be fixed yesterday and the dev to snap their fingers and make bugs just disappear right now.
If they do a road map and aren’t able to stick to it due to bugs or other issues. the players will just use that as ammo to be even madder and scream “you promised”
The CMs have been communicating it, but unfortunately, it’s not to people’s unrealistic expectations. Not directed at you, but the games not even been out a month, people really need to chill or take a break or something
If this were most other MMOs it wouldn’t be needed and I would agree. Most other MMOs haven’t had severe design changes months up to release though. Most MMOs haven’t changed combat mechanics in CBT tests to the point that mechanics that were intended to combat specific things no longer exists and feels broken. Most MMOs don’t release with bugs reported months and months ago in Alpha tests and have them crop back up on release with no fixes being given.
New World is floundering in the wind of the whims of the developers with no direction in sight. They have changed so much over the course of the games development having at least a rough idea of where they are steering the ship I think would definitely alleviate a lot of tension built up in this community by AGS themselves.
Saying we are fixing bugs isn’t improving communication. Improving communication would be what is coming. We know they are bug fixing. Every MMO in existence is bug fixing. MMOs that have been out for 20+ years are still bug fixing, that will never end. What we should want to know and have communication improved on is what is potentially coming (we all know things change). Critical bugs being fixed and timeframes would be nice, but that’s nearly impossible for the Dev team to let us know unless they already know how to fix the bug and what they need to do to deploy that fix.
good thing amazon is in “talks” with them now. RIP new world.
We are currently reviewing that mini map mod and I believe Overwolf probably jumped the gun on communicating an outcome publicly. It is likely they realized it was premature to announce an outcome and removed it.
Roadmaps are tricky, for sure. Game development is a fluid environment and sharing plans and goals can be seen as promises. Some folks react very strongly to change, even if you tell them to expect it.
That decisions has not been made yet, I believe the teams are discussing exactly what data it uses and any future plans for it.
Just wanted to add that the Aeternum Map dev on the Overwolf is a very open, passionate and nice guy. So if you decide it’s bannable, please talk to him and I’m sure he could add to the game.
And that the need for a minimap is mostly because stuff like Tracking is not working properly and/or is not as good.
If we had an official minimap in game with the Tracking working like it does (sometimes) in the Map, it would probably solve this need.
So far I’m a supporter of this game, but I gotta say, if AGS’ development track was tight enough that the minimap was gonna legitimately disrupt it, then I don’t think the game would be in the current state that it’s in.
I don’t think there’s anything that the minimap adds which has a material impact on the game.
The wild fluctuations in chest drops, major changes to fishing drops, broken modes, abused reporting systems, and weeks of locked content are MUCH more disruptive to the game than a minimap could EVER be.
The minimap helps you see stuff around you in a limited area, which you could already look up on a separate device or a separate screen.
Unless needing to find resources physically yourself, in game, is somehow crucial to the gameplay loop, I can’t see how AGS would ever be justified in coming down on it. Even if there were some technical aspect of it which was problematic, that could be worked around.
With the current state of the game, the minimap is honestly helping smooth things over at this point.
I’d trade a minimap for Stagger and more hardcore PvP. Then I’d take the game more seriously.
Till then, the game is missing content and has an arcade style, so there is no way I could agree that a minimap is a problem.
