On my server, one company holds several towns. There are only alts or whatever left in those companies, no upkeep on the town, nothing. Everything is degrading. The other territories are the same company, just a different faction, and it is the same scenario. Nothing is being kept up, every single tax is on maximum. So when those territories fall, the characters still in the company will walk away with tons of money and transfer to another server.
That is completely out of order.
There are invasions / wars whatever declared all over, but it will take a long time to fix all of this.
Frankly, there should be a mechanic of no upkeep for a week = lose the territory. Period.
Also, no upkeep = no money earned.
OR
Come up with a way to allow another company of the same faction to take over somehow, as we canât declare war on our own faction.
The way it is right now is completely insane.
There isnât a single Tier V crafting station anywhere anymore because of this, most stuff is now down to Tier II or Tier III, because everything has been abandoned after the server merge.
And⌠since we canât move / sell our houses, we either pay taxes at extortionate rates, or abandon the house and lose 10âs thousands gold because of it.
The way it is right now is about the worst game mechanic Iâve ever seen.
Thatâs also one of the reasons why people abandon a server, and why people quit.
You canât progress with the crafting if youâre unable to update the workstations = no point crafting and for many that means = no point staying/playing.
Been pointing this out since forever: the way the economy âworksâ is severely broken as it completely depends on high population PLUS companies doing the decent thing- neither of which works properly.
The problem is as soon as things start going south it goes south fast, and companies will just horde the gold then leave, leaving the mess behind.
Players will leave the game because of it- iâm sure itâs already cost many tens of thousands of players.
A company holding a town with less than 10 characters and possibly no level 60s (Since we donât see who is in a company, we canât tell â thatâs nonsense too) should immediately revert the territory to neutral so that EVERY faction has a chance to take the town.
Actually, no upkeep for a week should revert the territory to neutral, period.
That way everyone can try to take the town if they want, not just the two opposing factions.
Havenât you seen the dev video? âeconomy is in a good stateâ
Whoever is doing the decisions when it comes to company & territory design should take his hat and leave the god damn studio. I did some posts already but let me sum up what happened to the game.
No linked trading posts
Thatâs actually the bottom of the house of cards. This decision when the game was released started the big fat snowballing. I mean with a map that actually has 2 central zones like Everfall and Windsward that are both early-midlevel you already should have known what will happen as a game designer that has played a game with housing/auction houses etc. History told us. Not only DAoC, also WoW when we had no linked auction houses. You dont even need houses to screw that up. But in New World you also have houses. So what happened
Houses with 50% discount on the first house you buy. With an extra port while leveling to safe a LOT of azoth. Extra storage for guess what â
Town board missions. YAY. Town board missions that are even better than doing normal questing or grinding expeditions.
So what do people do? Buying a house where trading exists so they can push storage, do trading and town board missions ofc. Trading was dead in every other zone and you were forced to buy your first house in this EF/WW if you wanted to make some cash with trading.
Now the fateful part. â Territory standing. Why is it the fateful part? Since you cant reset territory standings you gonna push the zone with your house with trading taxes, crafting taxes, property taxes etc etc. And other zones? Nothing of it. More like gathering speed, faction stuff, xp bonus etc etc.
BAM. Linked trading posts. And here is where is no turning back if you dont do what I suggested a lot of times. I mean nice, we got linked trading posts. More freedom for everyone from everywhere. But⌠people already have their houses in Everfall/Windsward. Everfall/Windsward still central, people already have pushed their territory standing in these zones. Territories on the edge have nothing. No upgrades, only a few houses (minor ones for porting). Why? Because of point 5.
Solution that HAD TO HAPPEN months ago, when you linked the trading posts. And I have no god damn clue why the GAME DESIGNER is still ignoring that problem. Everfall and Windsward are such lucrative because of the history of your bad decisions with the trading post. No one wants to fight for Ebonscale. Whats the profit on most servers? 60k? With upgrades like -100k? You want people to fight WARS? You want people to upgrade cities (that system is dogs*it anyway but thats another topic)? Then for the love of god⌠give them some incentive to FIGHT for these territories. And that is only happening when there is competition when it comes to taxes and factions.
You NEED to give people (point 4 and 5) a FREE house switch to a new territory. You need to allow people to reset their territory standings to make them spreat into more territories they like cause of style or farming routes and NOT cause of âi bought a house there at release and pushed my standing so i lose 20k coins and all my bonus for this territoryâ.
I dont know what you missing on that as a GAME DESIGNER. More lucrative cities = more competition = more wars = more open pvp when it comes to pushes etc etcâŚ
And the most important: Not TWO cities that have 90% of the income from the whole damn server
Yes, but this doesnât address companies abandoning an entire server, because itâs really 1 huge company with several factions. Now we have no town upkeep, no crafting stations being kept at high level.
Meaning people canât progress AT ALL, because their storage is full of Tier V stuff that canât be crafted, because there are no Tier V stations anymore.
Iâm sitting on a lot of Wirefiber but canât craft it, because the cities are abandoned and not at Tier V (not even 3 or 4 in most places)
No town missions at all.
No perks.
Nothing.
Hence after a merge every territory should return to neutral if the occupying company is under 10 players, and if no upkeep for several days, max a week, the territory goes neutral by default.
And whatâs the problem in pushing the zone and take the settlement with a war? Beside of that you all got a free token. Use it. I know its taking away the job that has be done by AGS but at least you can leave
Having never declared warâŚ
What if the defending company doesnât respond? Since THEY choose date and time?
Does the game mechanic pick date/time, or does the request simply expire?
Because there are conflicts all over, but nothing is happening.
Server is being abandoned by most atm it seems (Amenti) but I have a nice company for a change and donât want to leave. Crafting stations are dropping like mad, no T5 kitchen anywhere.
Still have a couple T5 smelters and a T5 forge, loom and outfitter. Thatâs about it for anything high.
Not enough people anymore to take those territories I think, though working on some. But we canât take the ones that are already syndicate.
Also, doesnât the company on the territory set the time/date for war? What if they donât, because thereâs no one actually ever online?
