As my title states, i think the game needs a seriously content updates revolves around companies. Right now the only purpose for a company is for war, otherwise it’s just a glorified friends list and or extra gold bank. The other big issue I see with companies is there is no real reason to be loyal to a certain company. Players typically bounce around companies on regular for a variety of reasons.
Companies need guild missions. Other mmos I’ve played always have this feature. Not only does it give companies thing to do as a company outside of war, in can be a way for companies to earn gold. Other than owning territory there is no way for a company to make money. If the introduced guild missions with gold rewards, then smaller companies or even pve companies have a way to make money to help gear up or get items their players need. The missions could be as simple as farming materials or killing a certain boss in the open world or they could borrow from gw2 have something similar with little mini games you need to complete as a guild within a time limit.
They could also introduce guild halls that a company can build up. You can either have it tied into guild missions or just needing resources collected or both. I’m sure there is a handful of ways to do it. But companies can build up their guild hall, it could unlock companies exclusive things, like reward vendors etc.
Some games give attribute bonuses to certain stats for the tier level of company, you unlock more and more bonuses for your players, nothing game breaking but like plus 5 or 10 in every stat etc, gathering luck etc. just something than companies can use to invest into and help players.
Right now I think companies have no purpose at all outside war and even then with how wars work and how limited and political they are, players always bounce around for their reasons. Perhaps if companies had more to offer players, more things to do as a company. there would be more of a reason to be loyal to a company and build a company and invest in it. Perhaps it would create more longevity within companies.

I graduated in media, basically all Adobe programs.
Been playing MMO’s since 2004 with OSRS, had my own WoW private server for years and developed custom content, so got little bit of experience in this subject.
Also company only OPR would do the job. 20 vs 20 OPR. But to make it work it should open every day between some hours or like duel - you chalance other company for OPR.
Make a new devilish corrupted zone that has certain control points the further you get in. Something that the whole Company can do once a week or so.
Goal is to get as far in as possible with your company, each point you get gives every attendee a box with random loot. 1 control point = 1 reward box, 2 control points = 2 reward boxes.
The company with the most points every week (based on company size so even smaller companies have a chance to top the lists) gets something special for every member. Basically like a endless fight area you can enter at will every week and try to gain control of.
What you describe is basically World of Warcraft Rated Battlegrounds.
It’s just pre-made group 10 used to be 20 then 15.
Winning gives rating and it’s based on average MMR of the team.
So New World would need raid groups, which are coming with Sandworm Elite Trial And an elo ‘rating system’, which could be implemented into the leaderboards
Keep in mind took WoW 6 years, 3 expansions later to add this, we are still very very veeeryyy early in the life of an MMO.
