Companies should only be able to slot their own faction for war. Change my mind

As much as I agree factions could be removed now and not hurt the game at all, I think that having them on release was a good thing.

It can be completely overwhelming as a new player
to try and find a group/guild and the faction system acted as a “soft introduce”.

I think its served its purpose though.

Were out of that launch window.

Remove factions and make this GvG like its meant to be.

Factions after a time usually don’t work in MMOs. Especially having 3 factions. People just flock to the popular faction which makes one faction superior. Even WoW is removing faction restrictions from the game because 90% of the players all play Horde. The Alliance cant do anything.

In NW faction is meaningless except for color. The problem is if they gave factions meaning its just one more thing for them to balance. We all know how well this game is balanced. They should just make faction a personal deity choice that gives a little bit of lore and different skin choices or something which it pretty much is now anyways. Let people play what they want and with who they want. Having factions mean something will just end up most players being on a dominant faction and everyone else is left out.

I think factions were a good idea in the beginning too. But now that the game is dying and suffocating. They need to be abolished.
You could still take over territories, but it would just be per Company.
Anyone could sign up to help you or be against you.

The faction system exists solely to give players an innate reason to be enemies.

There are no meaningful differences anywhere in the system, it’s just visuals. Realistically, the whole system itself isn’t really suited to the game they’re playing.

If they undo factions. It would be so much work to undo. Because so many things revolve around it. Like how you push for a territory to earning tokens.

The best argument I saw was that factions currently give flagging a map, a simple path to follow-- FvFvF.

No factions being present, how would players be determined as hostile? Or would only your company be like that, all others flagged? Would you make company alliances? Maybe player alliances? That gets wildly complex rather quick.

I think you could set up some sort of alliance filter.
So lets say your company flags another company as an Ally, but you both have to flag some check mark whatever to be allied with each other.
But all other companies would be red to you if not allied.
Or unless you’re unflagged.

Red is dead and if they aren’t in your company, and PVP flagged, they’re red.

The only thing that would really go away is people getting benefits of a territory because they share the same faction with the controlling company.

This could be reworked into the housing system or just scrapped altogether.

I’d go even further and limit the number of non-company participants significantly. The current lack of restrictions with regards to faction and company are essentially walling off content to the majority of the population, including members of war-participating companies.

Noncompany players can be known in game as ‘freelancers’ who can join any side in any conflict but for partial rewards (like 80% of the gold etc). Since they have less skin in the game it makes sense not to treat them like a full equal, as the win or loss means generally less to them.

I’m not sure what their tradeoff is other than generally less headache around wars, if one is even needed. Maybe access to some territory faculties even outside the owning company…?

I came from BDO and they had pretty strict limits on the number of mercs that could participate in a normal node war - something like 3-5 if I recall. That may be too few here, but I think the goal should be to broaden participation.

in game politics.

some members of the same faction absolutely do not want smaller companies successfully capturing a territory.

you will get no help from them, as they are also usually in cahoots with other companies.

the only way you will ever fill a roster to even try and actually play the game will be to nab some enemy companies that hate those other companies.

its all a bad time.

I agree with wars but I don’t agree with invasions, bro I bought a house in the city why can’t I help?

Played since day 1, never been in a war.

agree!

Because, unlike what a lot of ppl think, PVP players are far and few between. So, to give maximum effort, you’ll need to pick up the best hitters from where ever you can get them. Until this game starts bringing back some good numbers, we really shouldn’t be trying to limit anything.

If they switch to companies, the game will begin to degenerate quicker, until 1 company and it’s shell companies control each server, and the bulk of the rest of players simply quit. Especially if you consider the current flaws in the design for land control.

I am just sticking this here, so I can reference this as the downfall if they switch to company driven with the current territory control systems.

Mad bonus points for anyone who can name the game that already made this mistake with a similar yet different albeit also flawed territory control system.

yes please and have a cooldown to change to other company also the attacker should choose the time of the figth not the deffender thats a joke its like im asking ur permision to atack u

if a company can’t defend a territory from invasions, they should probably not own it, and you should have your house elsewhere. That’s the point.

Changing faction is easier than in the past, indeed we see people changing color every other week to join the strong faction/guild. It makes sense then that you should be able to attract talent and rely on your own forces, rather than relying on other factions. Choices should matter.
If picking a faction doesn’t matter, then just remove factions.
