“Ifeveryone is thinking alike, then somebodyisn 'tthinking .” - U.S. Gen. George S. Patton Jr
So the section of our community who feel they have to condemn people who have complaints… Essentially “complaining about complaining”. You’re missing the boat. Too often peeps on here have painted every single criticism of this game as just “negativity”. This is a mistake and really shouldn’t be treated as such.
I am not going to miss the people who take every complaint as a challenge that needs to be quelled and silenced. It’s great that some folks really enjoy this game and love it to the point they want to defend it. That really is great. However it’s not realistic to attack people who have contrary feelings.
For all the money that AGS has put into this game. It’s well worth their time to listen to all the feedback. Then in turn find the best ways to appeal to as many people as possible. With a 200 million dollar initial investment, it’s obvious they’re not striving for a niche audience.
I fear the ongoing clash between “Good vs Evil Complainers” is going to add to the clutter on Discord. I hope some folks can rise above their passion for NW as is. At the same time find some patience for those who would like to see things fixed. Honestly we will all be better off without the divisive polarization.
To fight and win all your battles is not supreme excellency. Supreme excellency consists of defeating the adversary’s resistance without fighting.
What better way to dominate a whole group of people. But to create conditions where they are fighting and defeating each other. Handing themselves on a silver platter to their enemies. Gather side data here and there, keep them busy fighting each other, so they can’t fight those who conspire against them. It’s a easy way to make modern day slaves.
Amazon games absolutely refuses to fix bugs that have been in the game for over 15 months, bug that have been reported multiple times. This is well documented.
The performance in game seems to be getting worse by the day. The music giving a buff bug is getting worse (not receiving the buff once you finish your song).
I mean, I am not going to get into detail about all the issues plaguing this game, but I can tell you this much.
Once these forums are shut down, there is no way to report and track a bug for the players. Discord will not work due to its formatting and lack of screenshot sharing, same with in game “feedback” button. Neither are actually helpful for reporting bugs.
This leads me to believe they have no intent on fixing bugs, that instead all their focus is on development that they can charge for. This is the first steps towards a cash grab, then when people are milked dry, the game will get shut down.
I feel sorry for the folks that can’t see this. So many naive people who play games its scary.
Totally legitimate concerns and I share them as well.
It’s funny because I’m well past 6k hours now in game. For well over a year if I wasn’t at work, dealing with irl obligations or sleeping… I was on NW. Now my game time is sporadic. I’m playing other games more often. Days will go by now and I won’t bother logging in or I just do daily’s and that’s it. I always check the forums before I log in. I do this so I can see what bugs, issues, whatever might be relevant information. Sometimes I don’t like what I see and I decide not to log in.
BUT TO BE CLEAR, It’s not anyone’s negative posts or even toxic posts that stop me from logging in. It’s the stuff that’s broken that’s being acknowledged in the Dev Tracker that ends up repelling me. The never ending parade of bugs, disablements and such. Just this past week there were 3 official posts of in game issues and a post about the patch running late. This all told me that the game wasn’t worth playing this week. These were only things being acknowledged and they were not even that major. It’s the ongoing nature of broken that wears me down.
I might log on tonight, haven’t decided. However I know that if I don’t I won’t really miss it and will be easily replaced by other games or even mundane irl activities. o_O
The problem I’ve seen is some people not knowing how to leave constructive feedback in a well reasoned and thoughtful manner. Too many just spammed faulted arguments while being toxic or bashing the devs like it’s some kind of badge of honor. We all want the game to improve and succeed (well, most of us). But how you go about it makes a big difference.
Yes, we all wish our feedback would be approved and acted upon by the devs. But some have a hard time accepting that their feedback wasn’t in line with what the devs had in mind, or doesn’t match up with what they saw on metrics. So, they start acting out, and calling childish names and throwing tantrums, or saying the game is dead. There will never be a perfect game, and my opinion is whether or not a game is fun is mostly up to you.
There were definitely some on here that were too quick to attack someone with an opinion that varied from their own. Some were borderline zealots and would not let you walk away until they bloodied you and made some kind of twisted example of you. I would often post my opinion, then never go back to read replies. Simply because some of these hardline zealot types were like voracious dogs and not worth the time and effort to engage with. They were right, you were wrong. And that was that.
I like the game and think it has a solid future of updates and content coming. For a new player, anyone who enjoys the mmo genre should absolutely give this game a try since it has a lot of very fun content to offer for a minimal investment and you are bound to have many hours of entertainment from it. Then I would wait for the inevitable hammer of negativity to fall on my head.
Do you realize brimstone sands was worked on BEFORE the game launched. It was most likely not ready for their intended launch date.
The “expansion” they are working on is a rework of a zone. That is not an expansion, that is a rework of a zone.
I have tried to be fair with these people, praised them multiple times, put my head in the sand ignoring the issues with faith that they would fix them…and all it got me was me spending more money with them and the problems never getting fixed.
The fact that they hid my post is extremely telling.
Just because you have an axe to grind doesn’t mean everyone else is burying their heads in the sand. Plenty of people are enjoying the game right now, and look forward to playing in the future. Without drama or negativity, or feeling like their personal pet peeves in game were never addressed.
To each his own tho. This is probably my last post on the forum. I find this place too negative, too exhausting, and I’d rather spend my time playing the game.
Indeed. It speaks to their intentions going forward, To control the narrative and hinder critiques.
This is some of what is Ironic as hell to me:
1: Amazon does not pay it’s fair share of taxes irl, yet they design a world where everything, EVERYTHING, is taxed!
2: AGS operates in the USA and enjoys all the freedoms of doing so. Yet they control their community as an Authoritarian State.
These are just 2 things off a long list of things that make me go Hmmm?
It’s just too funny 0_0
The only axe I have to grind is that the development team REFUSES to fix bugs that completely affect the VERY REASON I PURCHASED THIS GAME. And its been FIFTEEN MONTHS. If this was any other industry I could have taken them to court for this kind of negligence. But people who play games get crapped on minutely by companies making games.
What do you mean, like all the people who stopped playing (as evidence of server merges?)
Do you realize there are 8 USA servers. AG said their servers can hold 2000 people. That is 16000 people that can play total at any point in time. This is not indicative of a healthy, happy population.
I have been MORE than fair with these people. Posted positively, sided with them and their goals, and given them tons of money to back up my claims. But when specific features the game was sold on are have been broken for 1 year 2 months and 21 days out of the 1 year 7 months and 2 days the game has existed, I have a GD right to complain and be angry if I choose to do so. I am not being dramatic, you have no seen dramatic. I am simply sick of these people refusing to fix bugs that have existed for that long. I paid good money in good faith for this product and continued to pay money, given them copious amounts of time to solve the issue and they can’t even acknowledge it.
I’d like to be in game as well, unfortunately the reason I like to play has been broken for 9/10ths of the games life.
Right…and to add to that, they will not even employ many of the people. A sizable chunk of this game was made through freelancers, contract hires, hobbyists, etc.
That means no medical, dental, optical insurance money spent, no vacation money spent, no hardware money spent, no infrastructure money spent, and on and on.
And somehow they are having issued with profit and shutting services down companywide? Meanwhile the CEO is one of the highest paid in any industry?
The truth is, there is a lot more going on here and none of it has to do with a video game.
