Concerned for game crafting longevity

I am concerned that the longer a server goes on for, the more useless crafting becomes. It does not seem like a sustainable feature due to gear not breaking. Once players obtain the gear they want they have no need to get any other gear. This means that at a certain point most crafting becomes completely useless and relies completely on new players joining the server.

I am concerned that this will make crafters completely irrelevant after a certain amount of time.
