Confusion about the historical context of Aeternum

Seen a lot of players saying that the world of NW makes no sense, what time period is it supposed to be, etc.

Pretty straightforward if you know some basic world history. The game is roughly the mid 1400s to early 1500s in technology. It would be the tme of the great Spanish explorers like Cortez, De Soto, Ponce de Leon, etc.

it’s the early gunpowder period, first muskets and cannon used in military combat.

NW is a generic continent somewhere in that age of discovery era. The look of the shorelines and the kinds of trees and plants in some areas suggest it’s tropical or partly tropical.

So it’s a new land that had been settled, with the twist of having a magical corruptive power that takes over people and turns them into undead.

That’s the jist of it really! Partly historical, partly fantasy without any of the political controversy over taking land from the natives, etc.

I personally think it’s a really interesting concept. And I like the idea that only the largest settlements have remained intact and have managed to keep Corruption outside of its walls, but the smaller settlements have all been overrun and wiped by it.
